Obviously he got time on the list wrong, but that's all fair on my end.

It's been an underwhelming start, yes he's skinny and no drama Lynch getting him, but there's some real Frost brain fades and lack of composure that have stood out for me. Today's example being why he elected to storm off Lynch and not get close to impacting the contest, Lynch walks into the open goal... a few poor kicks under no pressure also.

It's the bad moments that seem to stand out, and I'm struggling to see the "oh that's why he's an elite talent " moments others seem to be.

DGB has honestly been avoiding the best forwards this year, well Jack got him earlier in the year and Lynch today, but mostly he's not getting the tough assignments. Compare Will Day's IQ and composure early on to DGB's.

Obviously it's too early to write him off, but its also fine to have concerns as all clubs can miss early picks...

Needs a big pre-season. It's in the balance for me.

I'd have a go at our completely limpdicked midfield before the young defenders any day of the week. BB and Newk can hold their heads up. JOM was poor. Tom tries but he is Dan Howe like in his ability to * up our attacking movements.

The speed at which the ball came into the D50 was ridiculous. Absolutely zero pressure on the ball carrier. Was like the Globetrotters vs the Generals out there.
No matter how good of a key defender you are if you are against an elite key forward who gets good clean delivery you can do almost nothing. May is one of the best in the AFL but when Mckay had the ball delivered out in front he was useless at times yesterday. Expecting 20 year olds kids to compete with our midfield escorting the opposition inside our 50 is just unfair.

Richmond must've been playing for percentage, as that third quarter was unrelenting. Ran circles around us for most of the day but at least we put in a decent showing in the second and final quarter. Would've been a 100 point drubbing otherwise. Seeing Maurice Jr for them makes me really miss Cyril.

He was very good and very bad. Sam needs to update his contract to fine him $10k every time he blindly kicks the ball 30m. Its either find a player or kick it 50m.

Maybe $10k for the 1m handball to players in worse positions.
He will end up in ridiculous debt

Agree we were absolutely smashed thru the middle. Richmond's anticipation was good and combined with their speed was brutal. Defenders under the pump the whole game.

One small positive that hasn’t really been mentioned was Jeka keeping Riewoldt goalless. Not sure why he wasn’t tried on lynch. Blanck and DGB were outmatched.
I was at the game and Riewoldt definitely played higher and wider so they could focus on the Lynch match up as the obvious target. Not saying Jeka didn’t do a decent job on him, he definitely gave him plenty of respect.

However when he played on Cumberland he went for a spacewalk for 15 minutes (and was benched as a result).

Can excuse it due to inexperience but we can’t have multiple guys arguing about why they’re not playing loose and letting rookies off the chain as a result.

He’s not though - he hasn’t played this position at Hawthorn or Box Hill for years and track watchers say he won’t make it at senior level as a KPD.

That opinion was based on his time there two seasons ago now. He's matured and has got himself fit, so it's not the same situation as it was back then.

IMO he doesn't have that nous to play at a KPF. But the certainly has the athleticism to play KPD.

DGB is a 20 year old KPD, still got ages to figure it out. Key defenders don’t usually hit their peak until 25

Also he got three goals kicked on him by Lynch and only ONE was a direct 1v1 where he was beaten for strength

It’s like the media and people on here are willing and hoping for the Zac Dawson game - absolute storm in a teacup

Wonder if theirs something in throwing him forward in serongs role for the last game, worked for a few in reverse

Let’s just remember that Hawthorn selected DGB with pick 6, not DGB. He performed to the best of his ability and our professional recruiters picked him ahead of 50-odd other kids.

If he’s not living up to your expectations then your beef should be with the club, not the kid doing his best.

Frankly, I think he’s got one of the toughest jobs in footy at the moment. Underweight KPD, drafted early in first round to a rebuilding club whose best mid is a mid season rookie pick from last year. He’s under siege on and off the ground as a result. Give him some bloody time.

Yeah would love to see it, no real downside in giving DGB @ KPP at lash round 23

Right now he’s worrying about his man, losing concentration and panicking far too much in D50

Up forward he’d be able to fly at the footy and use his aerial skills without pressure - seems a no brainer tbh

I am basing my take on asking the question about him as a defender not so long ago - maybe preseason - and a few respected posters who watch far more training and Box Hill games than I do said he wasn’t fit to play defence at AFL level. Maybe they’re wrong but it stands to reason when two coaches now haven’t played him there for many years.

I'm very confident Denver ends up an elite defender. We've taken him out of his comfort zone to make him a rounded player. We are not telling him to play his natural role he's in the big league where he will.play finals.and needs to learn how it feels to be one out in the GS on a KPF. He's 20. These sort of articles are just appalling and lack any sort of recognition about player development.
