Good to hear the panel write us off in the flag race after the game. For mine, we are the clear third seed in the flag race. No expectations on us, but feel like the pieces are so close to clicking and if they can (hopefully starting next week!) Then watch out world.
Who wrote us off? If you’re referring to Fox no way the panel wrote us off. Riewoldt said there’s holes in our game which is a fair comment

What were the comments?
Pre game, Fagan was asked directly if the club had addressed Kings comments about Andrews “poor” defending.

Fagan gave one of his usual answers, haven’t seen it, no we haven’t talked about it, etc.

After the game, Rayner was asked if the club spoke about it, and he said “yeah it was addressed in team meetings”. Then was told about Fagan’s comments pre game, and he said “oops, threw Fages under the bus there”.

People will talk about King's misses, but I haven't seen us butcher that many f50 attacking phases for a long long time. Saints were fairly lucky to be only 4 or so goals down when we broke out to a decent lead.

It's true . We deserved to be 5 or 6 up.

But then again we had 7 i/s 50's in the last quarter for 4.1

If you told me at 3/4 time we would have 7 i/s 50's in the last quarter I would've thought we were done.

It was a good game to win for us in Melbourne. They came to play .

We get it bro you're elite at super coach, but its time to freshen up that avatar. you know what you've gotta do, even if only for a few days

We had 10 shots at goal didn't register a score too. Not to mention King's misses was balanced out by Mason Wood becoming Carey.

Within 5 years of his retirement, will 95 percent of football fans even remember that Tim Membrey existed?

Always seems to get his quota of goals on the back of good work from teammates but deadset I wouldn’t be able to pick him out of a lineup. He is one of the most remarkably unremarkable players I have ever seen. Add him to the file with luminaries such as Jamie Cripps, Nathan Grima, Sean Dempster and Jasper Pittard.

I actually think he's kinda decent but he's on a totally unremarkable football club. In a different life could have been a Tom Lynch (adelaide version) type.

Happy with the win and we get a good test next week at the Gabba
However i was a bit worried
  • At 3/4 time
  • When Starcevich went down
  • When Gardiner got cleaned up
  • When Rich copped a knee to the ribs
Thinking after each incident our defenders have had a rough time of it lately
But all good in the end

The positives are we still can forge out a win without everyone playing to their potential
We held the Saints goalless in the last quarter after a 5 day break
Our previous 2 last quarters we conceded 8 goals to the Blues and 4 to the Tigers

Inconsistent and ugly. Thank goodness for Cam's burst. Our discipline is embarrassing. Not overly shocked when Zorko and Andrews are our biggest culprits. Leaches through the rest of the team
People will rightly focus on Rayner’s last quarter, but at the ground what was super obvious war Oscar’s massive lift at consecutive centre stoppages to help get us back in it. He was unreal. Smashed it a mile forward, roved his own ruck work, got it into his boot. He was phenomenal.

Absolutely. Should have gave Oscar some credit. Was very good tonight. Sliding pick up in my mind earlier in the game

Andrew’s give away less than1 free kick a game, Zorko 1.6 a game.

Hardly what you’d call ill disciplined at all especially Zorko who’s in the trenches and pressures more than any player in our side.

You obviously don’t watch the gamesz

The free kick against Harris to king to night was one of the softest I’ve seen in years. If that gets ticked off by the afl there should be 25 of those every game.

Never mentioned free kicks, not sure where you have plucked that from.

Not a criticism of your post, which was excellent.

Kiddy was a bit out of touch tonight. Got pinged a couple of times .

We did have players who lifted when we needed it . Rayner ,Oscar , Starcevich .

Saints put a lot of work into Kiddy. He still managed to deliver some brilliant inside 50 kicks.

Rich exploited their focus on Kiddy, particularly in the second half. 2 quality ball users off half back is essential to our structure.

Yep I agree - was a strange atmosphere - but fantastic to see so many lions supporters out and about. Loved see Cam go over and give the footy to the person in the crowd Had the biggest smile on his face. Was watching Fages press conference when I got home and he mentioned that Hughie had driven down to Warrnambool for his grandmothers funeral and then back today. Huge week for him. Happy to get a win but we have a lot to work on.
