Autopsy Round 22, 2025: Positives and Negatives vs Adelaide

We tackled so well on the weekend yet 2 times when there was an opportunity to Duggan goes the bump and gets 2 weeks and the next time, Chesser I think it was, we chose to bump Fog and he bounced off and kicked a goal.
If both of those were effective tackles instead, who knows.
Duggan was in no position to tackle. The ball was loose.

Only negative is that we genuinely should have won that game. So many opportunities for goals squandered due to a lack of experience, panic or just poor skill. Good signs going forward though. Especially to do that without a mature key back or key forward

Umm how did he handball it away straight after the bump?
He had just picked it up from the ground and was straightening up when the hit occurred.
A good tackle, split second, could have pinned the ball to him and caused a ball up.

He did win the ball, I guess the way I saw it was that he won it at that exact time.

The way Duggan stays low looks like he was trying to win the groundball by getting Thilhorpe out of the way and letting the ball roll into his area of control, but Thilthorpe grabbed it very cleanly and probably lower/earlier than he expected.

Poor choice by Duggan but I don't think a tackle was on at all given where they both were at the time. Would have had to have hung back to tackle after, which would have been more reminiscent of our corralling days.

Should have stuck his left arm out to strip the ball and he'd probably have gotten away with any incidental contact. Did well to stay low and not get a much worse suspension, but he elected to bump there and got him high.

It's Duggan, don't try any logic or facts here! It's Duggan - we all know he's bad in every situation.

I watched the game on delay so couldnt contribute in the game day thread . I felt the umpiring interpretations favoured Adelaide a goal or 2 and conversely cost us a goal or 2 . Frustrating part of Afl is seeing this . Nothing we can do but had the rub of the green gone our way we definitely would deserve the win

Could have easily not paid the high contact on Ryan, and Jobe could have been pinged for a push in the back on another day.

Swings and roundabouts really

Duggan hit was definitely high. We all said he’s gone as soon as we saw it!
Buuuttt…I kinda liked it . On ya Duggo; give it to the Beast!

What I don’t understand about the Chesser tackle/bump is why people think a tackle would have been more effective.

If you aren’t disrupting some one with a bump, you aren’t with a tackles.
Cmon man. A tackle at least requires the offensive player to break through, giving us more time to cover. An ill-timed bump simply knocked him into the direction he wanted to go lol.
