That is a big wake up call. Sometimes you need a loss or a close call to really wake up. We seem to struggle after long breaks and in Perth.

at least this happened in a game where west coast genuinely brought the heat. thats about as positive as it can be, we didnt play poorly for the hell of it. west coast genuinely pressured us for 4 quarters

Exactly and they’ve done this against the other 3 sides in the top 4 this year too, who all took 3 quarters to break them. For some reason they bring out their best against the best this year and then play like trash against fellow bottom 6 sides.

It was just unfortunate some of our players were phoning it in. One thing I think Nicks needs to blast them for. Not good enough at all and some players deserve a bake!

To be fair, eagles probably did us a huge favour today. Very high pressure game, and shows that we need to be switched on no matter the opposition. And no more resting players.
Lucky to scrape through with a win rather than embarrassment.

North in R24 is now looking like no guarantee as well. Cannot afford to come out like this in that game. Hopefully they learn from this.

Hats off to the Eagles, they have shown if the paly with that intensity ,they won't be the dwellers next year.
That being said , bloody hell , what an insipid performance from our boys.
So many players unsighted and underperforming..
He wasn't the only passenger , though whatever we get offered for Baby John Burgess..The Price is Right !!

The Eagles 5 best games this year are against the Saints, us, Collingwood, Brisbane and Geelong. They actually brought proper heat for 4 quarters today and made us earn it, not like we just played poorly and kept them in it.

They’ve also done this against Brisbane, Collingwood and Geelong this season, no idea why they save it for the best sides but we aren’t the first to cop a scare from them this year.

They’ve done it against all of the top 4 sides this year now and all 4 took until the 4th quarter to eventually break away from them. For whatever reason they then revert to apply zero pressure against fellow cellar dwellers.

as frustrating as burgess has been, its not easy just being dropped into the side for a single game.
