Round 22 discussion (Preliminary Finals)

Thought I'd start early. Got 5 Prelims this week, but after going through all my opponents teams and POD's, surprisingly the most difficult/tricky match up I have is against a team ranked a lowly 34k. (I'm ranked 1st and he's ranked 9th overall in that league) Heaps of POD's between our teams and on paper at least he seems to have the better uniques...thoughts/strategy on how to prevail against this villain?

Thanks guys. I'm stumped how that team is ranked only 34k. His starting 22 seems stronger on paper than the top 300 team I played a couple of weeks ago. Although I also have him (as my M9) I'm hoping TMitchell is overlooked for selection for the second week. I would lose my Mid bench cover but my opponent would be playing 1 short (reckon he is out of trades, or he would have traded TMitch last week) unless Hrovat/KMart play of course. I'll try to maximise my score by using loopholes where I can and keep tabs on what he's going with his VC/C etc. Can't afford to stuff up/compromise my C score for the third week in a row, because it might end up being the difference...

So, for the fwds is probably going to be where you win or lose - will NRoo, Buddy & Cloke all go off, or will they spud it up? (No opportunity to loophole either with current line all playing),

That being said, for him, Dusty didn't show up last week & Harvey has been down for last 2 weeks,

Kmart a remote chanc eto be picked this week, was good in the 2's last week along with Didak , Jolly and Kennedy and Seedsman was okay

Also Gingy, I'm tipping T Mitchell becomes a premium at some point.
Looks like he's gone straight to the prelim with a week off conserved a trade or 2 last week ready to use this week.

Hrovat's highly unlikely to come in this week. And seeing as KMart seems a remote chance you'll probably be going in with no mid cover.

I think you are in real trouble here Gingy if his team plays to it's full potential I predict a loss. Also if he has any trades left and can get one more premo mid you are in deep deep trouble.

I think defence is pretty even, you have the slight edge, but defence lately is hit and miss so you never know.

Mids I prefer his, even with Titch (provided he plays). He has had a rest and will probably get a decent score. Jack Barlow and Griffen have a much higher potential imo than Watson (playing Carlton) JPK Stanton/Murphy.

Rucks you are completely crushed. If Kruezer plays I think you have the potential to lose 50-100 points here, if Kruezer doesn't you are in huge trouble. Goldy and Minson can easily punch out 130's and higher. Roughhead is off the last few weeks and you can't rely on Blicavs to do great, he will struggle against Sydney.

Franklin and Cloke for you could go big or get 50's/60's. Martin is sure to bounce back against GWS and Harvey shouldn't get a hard tag against the Hawks you would think, Bartel normally plays well in bigger games against top 4 teams and Walker should equate to N.Roo's score you would think. Rocky for you though is a big plus, hope he goes large.

The reason his overall rank is so shit could be due to saving trades heavy early on. A lot of people who aren't interested in overall still have a few trades with decent teams and a low rank. Hope for your sake he has no trades left! Luckily for you and him you both dodged all the backline carnage this week with Heppell/Hartlett/Hanley.

One suggestion is I would consider switching Roughy and Cox and then playing JJK instead of Roughhead. I assume you have no trades left?

His benches are shit and still has Vlas & TMit on the ground (if I had a stronger midfield I would also start those 2 so there are less POD's) He played 1 short in the mids last week (in a very close game) so I will assume for now that he is out of trades. (could have easily lost last week) We both have Cox, so I'm not that fussed if Kreuz plays or not as I would just move Cox to the rucks. Cox & Roughy. Reckon Roughy will score well this week as Roos try and shut down Buddy as per the last time they played.

I would then loophole JJK as F7 and if he spuds up start Staker Vs the Doggies @ the Gabba, if JJK finds form again, I start McBean.

My main concern is his Mid Pod's of Barlow, Jack, Griffen (not so worried about TMit as I have him as well and could always swing him onto the field if I am winning, to make 1 less POD) ...but yeh, Barlow, Jack, Griffen & TMit Vs Watson, JPK, Murphy & Stanton is where he has a real edge and might end up being the difference.

I think my VC choice will be crucial. If I nail that early on, it should nullify his midfield advantage somewhat. ATM my VC will be one of Swan or Pendles. Just hope I get it right for a change.

If Tmit doesn't play, I think I will be in the box seat playing with an extra player, so long as my C outscores his. Can't afford for Shaw & Ellis to put up rookie scores 2 weeks straight though, or I'm well and truly farked in this one.

This particular player was a middle of the road league plodder, but made a lot of trades around about the MBR period. Picked the right players and his team improved a lot since. Weird how my "weakest" opponent is my biggest threat this week...looking forward to this match up TBH. Reckon I can out coach him with a bit of bluff/making my moves at the last minute...
