Soooooo......Hands up who honestly saw that coming?

A fantastic win out of absolutely no-where to keep our finals hopes not only alive, but well and truly in the frame. The bombers were gallant and put the Dog's fabled midfield through the ringer at centre clearance and ended up holding onto the end (sorry umpires!).

The story of the day was clearly Peter 'Litre' (eh?) Wright who played the game of his life by booting 7 straight, including a couple of ball bursting efforts from outside 50. This resulted not only in Essendon sealing the match, but completing one of the all time great mozzes in footballing history from this guy:
Peter Wright lol. Please.

Delist.
Word has it that the Essendon football club has asked him to also publicly declare Jake Stringer a sunk cost, Hawthorn are no chance of relocating to Tasmania, and that Carlton will win a premiership sometime in the next 1,450,923 years.

Merrett and Parish won the ball at will, and big Sammy Draper had Essendon fans around the country questioning their relationship status. There is something wonderfully majestic about a 205cm guy with a mullett running around and taking the souls of opposition players.
The Bulldogs are a bloody good side, and it is always good to beat a team we haven't beaten in forever.

Hearts out to Josh Bruce though - that's a tough one

Pidge makes his return after apparently doing more than expected in rehab (surprising absolutely no one) to further bolster a strengthening midfield. Captain fantastic Dyson Heppell returns to provide his steadying influence to the back half and seems to have successfully recovered from his broken finger (again).

Nik Cox gets a much needed spell after a long season. And when you consider he has played 21 games straight we are surprised he has lasted as long as he has after playing no footy last year at all.
Gleeson makes way for Heppell in a pretty straight forward swap, albeit after being more than solid in defence last week.

Fan favourite, Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti is managed - which is code for he is out of form, clearly hampered by something, and just needs a break after being one of our most durable and indestructible players since he arrived at the club - and so hopefully a week off gets him right for Collingwood and (fingers crossed) a final or two.

The Bombers should get home in this one, putting us in a position to sneak into the top 8. Lets just hope Essington doesn't show.

Gold Coast are plucky though and have recently beaten similarly ranked sides to us on the ladder such as Richmond, GWS and Carlton. We will need to keep our wits about us, which I trust Truck and the coaching staff will do.

The sort of game we should flex the muscle and put it away early but can see this one being super annoying and stressful. Everything crossed (may have torsioned a testis)
Can see it being a super annoying game today like north a few weeks back. Although a couple times this year we have flexed on weaker teams when we’ve been on, which is unlike essendon teams of the past decade.
