Out: Gross, Owies
In: Billiams, Dewar

Backs: Bazzo, Brock, Ginbey, Cole, Duggan, McCarthy, Dewar
Mids: Kelly, Hewett, Hough, Hall, Maric, Chesser
Rucks: Flynn, Reid
Forwards: Billiams, Shanahan, Ryan, Cripps, Davis, Baker, Graham
Sub: Brockman
Emergencies: Owies (travelling), Jamieson, Long

I’m assuming Edwards won’t get up.

No point playing Gross if they’re going to leave him on a flank, that’s clearly not working. He’s out, Dewar comes in to play back, Baker can go forward and play a negating role on Bailey Dale.

Billiams in to provide a senior target up forward, Shanahan and Reid weren’t able to bring the ball to ground in that last term. Keep letting Reid give Flynn a chop out, that seems to work well and it gets him involved in the game. Brockman (or maybe Davis) to sub, Owies to carry the bags.

Didn’t see the Duggan incident. If he’s rubbed out then I guess Baker stays in the backline, maybe Long comes in.

Owies, Long and now Gross have all gone missing at HFF. Is that a personnel issue or a role issue?
This is a massive pet peeve of mine and it’s not unique to the Eagles, at least in terms of Gross. Pretty much every club ends up with at least one on-ball mid who is “beating the door down” because he’s piling up 30 disposals and kicking the odd goal in the twos. So they bring him in but their engine room is already full, so they put him at HFF and he does nothing. And then gets turfed back out to the twos. He’s doing nothing at HFF because it’s a completely different position to playing inside mid! If you need a HFF then just pick one out of the twos, like Champion or whoever, even if he’s not piling up disposal stats that “demand selection.”

You'd think it's season over for dugan if the afl is consistent. If grego doesn't get a debut idk what they're thinking. Wouldn't mind seeing newton in. We all know what long will deliver may as well reward some decent form the last couple weeks. Owies been dreadful all season, I'll own up to it I thought he'd be a good inclusion never seen a player perform so poorly at a new club when they had previous good performance. Agree that Livingstone could be a good inclusion as second ruck over reid. Knows how to kick a goal and is a handy mark up the ground (we are seriously lacking a high roaming tall who takes contested marks)
Don't think that's 2 weeks TBH.

No concussion and he played on.
Probably a week.

Duggan is 100% copping a week or two. Just how it works these days and tbh probably fair enough, he elected to bump in a low down contested situation and got it wrong. Tbh I don't mind it in the slightest, not saying I want us concussing players but for a game like that I appreciate that our captain went over the line of too far rather than not far enough. Thilthorpe looked bad, I reckon it was slightly dodgy they sent him back on IMO.

Owies didn't get a lot of gametime but still did nothing with it, and feel like he didn't show the desperation and aggressiveness the rest of the side did when the game was on the line. He's not a good enough player to not be nasty.

Out - Duggan, Owies
In - Long, Dewar

Long was great in the WAFL, deserves Owies' spot and would have him starting. Dewar was less good than stats would suggest but put up the sort of game you'd generally hope for, happy to have him as sub, can fill in back, wing or fwd in a pinch.

Additionally, I feel like Mini has cottoned on to only playing one of Bailey/Flynn at a time, we get the best out of them that way. Bailey tends to do better against the mobile rucks like Gawn, Flynn against the stocky rucks like O'Brien. With Flynn looking sore and English the opponent, plus Bailey having a good game in the WAFL, I'd be happy to rotate those two (though do hate dropping a ruck after a good game, and Flynn was decent today).

Duggan is totally getting banned IMO.

Did he chose to bump? Yes.

Did he get the Oppo in the head? Yes.

Severity is less important after those 2 things.

Good opportunity to blood Grego as he's one of the last remaining replacement options in defence. Doubt they'd go back to Hunt whilst Johnston probably wouldn't deserve it.

Gross is an inside mid, where he is getting no exposure. Not sure you can say he isnt AFL level off that.
Bailey was terrible at WAFL level on the weekend. The stats are pretty misleading. Tapped to the opposition pretty consistently and dropped just about every ball that came to him, including a few easy chest marks that should have led to goals and probably cost us the game.
Nothing he has shown has showed he is an inside midfielder at AFL level yet. Not saying he won’t get there - just that he’s not close yet (and you need to be versatile in footy today - can’t just be completely invisible if not in preferred position).

Yeah fair call on Williams. I don’t know who takes that 2nd ruck spot right now - none of J.Williams, B.Williams or A.Reid really deserve it.

reckon there will be a few sore boys after today that don’t make the trip

that was my favourite Davis game so far, I’d keep him, more predictable teammate than earlier in the year where he was a touch out of sync.

felt the Gross sub for Owies was taken too early, maybe not his best position but I’d keep in the side somewhere

I would like a farewell game for Petruccelle

Clay Hall looks a solid hundred gamer clubman.

No to Petruccelle unless he is retiring.

The race for our leading goalkicker is going down to the wire, with Cripps and Flyin' Ryan both on 22 goals. Ryan's done it in one less game and has also had more scoring shots (22.21 from 18 games vs 22.13 from 19 games).

What really sums up our season is that Jake Waterman is third with 17.9 from 8 games.

Doughnuts Williams a chance to overtake Waterman if he manages to get a game (and a touch) in the last two games (16.9 from 13 games).

Dont really care about changes, but I do want to see the same level of effort that we applied to yesterday's game to this one.

So far this year we've largely failed to link together a consistent level of effort across multiple consecutive games. Will be most disappointed if we decide not to show up when we just proved what we can do if we crack in and give it a go.

Since there's obviously no preview thread I'll chuck this thought in here.

Two years ago, at the same time of the season, and of course being a complete bucket of shit of a team, we ended the Bulldogs finals hopes at Docklands (supporters will recall we almost lost Harley Reid that day). May we do the exact same thing to them this Sunday.

If GC & GWS conspire to play out a draw, Hawks beat Melbourne, and we upset the Dogs like old times, that's the final eight set.

Has to be two right as it was intentional high contact bump that makes it high impact right?
No, not intentional. Intentional has to be either out of the play or a deliberate attempt to strike.
It will be classed as careless.
Careless, High contact- maybe medium impact as he had to go off the ground for treatment but returned to play in which case it is 1 week. If they deem high impact then 2 weeks.
