The mercy rule umpiring through this entire game has given me the shits

But:

• Gunston was brilliant all day long
• Breust - if that was his send of game that was awesome
• Gawn had 28 touches but I don't konw if I would have called him damaging outside of ruck contests?
• Weird forwardline set up - we just cleared room for Gunston - that was the game plan
• Midfield lost firepower when Moore moved into the forward line - he was amazing in the first half
• Some lazy stuff through the day- but I don't mind so much - we got the job done
• Chol was 100% team oriented and defensive. Was just clearing space and making room for teammates all day. I love his ruck work
• I'm gonna ignore those last 3 goals - that defensvie unit was awesome.

Wish Wiz got more involved before getting subbed, I thought those conditions would suit him. Also would have liked to see Lewis and Chol get in on the action, just to see them all gel, but the conditions weren't great for talls.

A 60-point win that ended up being 36 because we missed many gettable shots and let them kick the last 3. Percentage may end up mattering so that was disappointing.

There were also concerns. We got slaughtered by Gawn and through the middle. They basically doubled our centre clearances. Our defensive lapses saw us concede multiple inside 50’s, highlighted by letting them have 20 in the third. If we play like that, Brisbane will eat us for breakfast. Newcombe or bust is not conducive to beating better opposition.

Our backline turns it over occasionally, but they are very good at limiting the opposition. When our midfield does gain ascendancy, we’re incredibly hard to score against. TB-Battle-Sicily-Scrim are finding some real form and Amon/Impey/Hardwick are all playing great football. We’re potent offensively and defensively.

I also think our forward line is humming. These weren’t good conditions for tall forwards, but I thought all offered something without dominating. At the very least, Lewis/Chol drag opponents away from Gunston and there are few players I prefer 1v1. Moore and Ginnivan are also in great form. It hasn't clicked completely but I'm optimistic it will only get better.

Plenty to like but also plenty to work on. We've basically guaranteed finals through this win so that is fantastic.

Had the chance to win by 80 points but terrible goal kicking meant we couldnt even win by 40 points.

The % loss there cost us being ahead of Collingwood.

Need Adelaide to bury them tomorrow.
