Only if you believe a team is incapable of recapturing that form.Early season form is irrelevant, you just need to bank points. Ask Brisbane 2024.
Geelol haven't beaten a top 8 team for 71 days and that was gold coast at scatdinia park. They've coasted on belting bottom 8 minnows since round 9, disgusting fixture. As an Adelaide fan I think Geelong is the team to avoid first up in the finals. I think we would love to get Collingwood or Gold Coast first up in a qualifying final at Adelaide oval. Remember, our boys were off a short break this week after a trip to the west and they are probably in the middle of a heavy training block to prepare for finals. That's why last night's win was so big for us.
Apart from Geel and GWS (both with extenuating circumstances ) they also know we can beat them.I didn't say rabble. All I did was answer your question that the other top 8 teams wouldn't see us as such a threat that they would want to avoid us in finals. They all know they can beat us.
Hawks beating lions throws a spanner in the works as we could be inside the top 4 in that scenario too depending on percentage and beating Dees of courseUnlikely, the Suns still have two more easy kills and I would imagine their % would eclipse ours. But, you never know I guess. We have shot ourselves in the foot unfortunately.

Lippa hasn’t been the same since Meek KO’d him. That he gave Lipinski more than enough opportunity to impact the game. On reflection change should have been sooner.
Lipinski and his forward connection is a worry. He was the best in the AFL and has fallen away. We need him and Fly really has given him a chance to regain that form.
Only guessing here of another alternative for late sub.
You can have long backThe good thing about these games is you always see the coaches A-Team based on who's playing and who's on the bench in the last five minutes.
Smashed in Clearances, Territory, I50’s, Tackles, unable to score ( kept to 59 points) and at virtually full strength on their HG.Spot on.
Nicks would have walked away from that game supremely confident that the Crows have our measure. They’ve been the best team this season in free-flowing, high scoring games and now they’ve proven that they can win a gritty arm wrestle.
He’d be feeling very content over his weetbix this morning.
Domie, stop playing the victim - we all agreed Frampton is a lock, we disagreed with you that Fly was overlooking him. He just needed fitness.I thought Frampton was outstanding last night, yet once again he has received very little recognition. His hands were excellent from the opening minute. He remained sure handed throughout a very wet night after quarter time and showed Thilthorpe a clean pair of heels on a couple of occasions. I was mocked for suggesting he should have been an automatic selection a couple of weeks ago, yet once again he has proven to be a better performer than our captain under the heat of last night's game against the top side on the competition's most feared big man.
The recognition of his game seems to be non-existent. This has been the pattern for most of his time at the club. Play a good one and it's "he did his job" at best and not much else. Play poorly alongside other equally poor performers- he is a "spud" and a VFL hack at best. As I said, this season he is a crucial link in our defense and an automatic selection if we wish to make any progress during the final series.
You can have long back![]()
I'm just joking. I wouldn't trade himLong is in the top handful of our players in AFLCA voting this season, he can’t possibly be that terrible?
Started really promisingly in that regards. Might just have been the rain that turned it into what it became. Its not all doom and gloom. We have a good shot at it. Our firm line isn't that bad. But the last month or two it is a bit of a worry how much we look like Melbourne. They used to go on about how dominant they were when the rest of us could all see they were no chance of scoring. Our balance is currently off, and to go all the way we have to make some adjustments quickly. If we think we should just do the same but execute better, then I think it won't cut it.
Categorically untrue! Why would you comment when you clearly don't know? Posters laughed and responded with disbelief and much sarcasm because I dared to say he should be an automatic selection each week this year.Stop playing the victim - we all agreed Frampton is a lock, we disagreed with you that Fly was overlooking him. I don’t get why closest ump doesn’t have final decision in such circumstances. Surely being closer, unless unsighted, will always offer a more accurate view of the incident. No way finals will be umpired like last night, 4 umpires seems a big issue. The out of area umpire paid the Rankine dive.
I think you need to go back and review the posts - I was one of many who disagreed with your belief Fly was overlooking Billy, given you made the unfounded and baseless assertion he was ready to play.Categorically untrue! Actually they had 4 outs, including Laird and Pedlar, two key outs, so no they were not virtually full strength.Smashed in Clearances, Territory, I50’s, Tackles, unable to score ( kept to 59 points) and at virtually full strength on their HG.
I’m tipping Nicks is completely off Food let alone WeetBix.
Where will most errors happen from the far or closest view? That assumes that the umpire who is closest to the ball has the best view, which isn’t always the case.
True which is why I did not say Full strength.Actually they had 4 outs, including Laird and Pedlar, two key outs, so no they were not virtually full strength.
We also had no Howe and Hill

Billy is Billy. He's very good with predictable entries when the opposition are kicking long in straight lines. Slow to adjust and re-position when the angles are shifted, someone has broken clear out the front of the pack or it's a quick scrub forward.Categorically untrue! The occasional exception is not a basis for over ruling the closet view IMO, particularly in contentious calls as with Rankine.
Tomayto tomato, you've alluded that 'even at full strength...............'True which is why I did not say Full strength.
I think the Mitchell v Long debate is over given comments on Titches performance in the VFL thread.Ned long played well ???
Lol
10 out of 22 effective disposals
Part of playing well is to not give the ball continually to the opposition
