I may well be proven wrong but for the time being let me just state this as plainly as I can. Anyone who thinks J Selwood's cooked or finished as a midfielder is going to be made to look extremely foolish when he is fit again. As I have said before if he isn't injured then I would be absolutely astounded. No not battered from his career or run down so he won't recover but injured. As in a new relatively trouble free preseason after post season surgery and bang the champ will be back. NOTHING SURER.

Didn't think I'd be saying this but I think the pre finals bye will come at a good time for us - a chance to reset our rather patchy second half season form.

As for today, just get the win without any injuries please. C'mon Cats!

The game will comedown to attitude IMO,will Carlton muster the enthusiasm to crack in hard put the body on the line risk an injury in a game that probable won't mean that much to them,we break them early they may just go through the motions, give them a sniff and they just might just decide to have a red hot crack.
Conversely the Cats players may be looking at the finals and everyone thinking I'll leave it to some one else today to do the hard stuff .
I hope we are revved up right from the start.

Not fussed about today's game. It's a guaranteed win and we just need to wait to see who we play week 1.

Loved Dalhaus’S thoughts in the papers. A bit of that 2016 Bullodogs mentality will go a long way to getting the team home. Him, Ablett, Taylor and Danger are the four that I expect will set the tone in the finals. They all have this absolute will. Selwood has it too, definitely, but his body is letting him down at the moment. Hawkins as well, but he is a finisher at this stage, he can’t influence a match like the four I mentioned.

Got a feeling we'll come out firing, be 5-6 goals up at quarter time and win by 10 goals similar to the Eagles game earlier in the year, but have the performance downplayed by the usual Hawk and Tiger trolls on here since we're playing on our "cheat ground".

Yep. I have a feeling the bye will work in our favour this time. Who would of thought..

Today's objectives:

1. Win
2. Play our way - win midfield, plenty of i50s, lock the ball in our half
3. Convert chances in front of goal
4. No injuries

Don't care if the margin is 20 or 200 if we do those things.

Carlton are playing too well to get beaten easy they will want to finish of well we will win by under 20 points

I think the game would be closer if it was played at the MCG or Marvel - not necessarily tipping a blow out, but being at KP, it can be harder for visiting teams and should give us the edge

Yeah I was and ta. Still will watch the game so hopefully Gaz and Tommy can turn it on a bit.
Footy is a bit of a grind ATM

Especially if you are a Geelong supporter. We are terrible to watch. Absolutely shocking and if we win then it makes it ok....just. So so so defensive. Not saying it's the wrong way to play as I think it's the best style considering our personal but it's like pulling teeth. Also we just aren't used to it as the team who plays the game the way it should be played. We have so many scoring records, not to mention how we saved football in 07!!! Still we win it all or even get to the big dance and it's hard to complain too much.

Total 4 qtr effort.

Next week is off.

Play the way we want - whatever version that is - but be first to the ball and dont wait for someone else to do the work. Build on last weeks effort an get some confidence, not arrogance, with a hard win over an opponet looking for a big scalp ( ours) going into their off season.

Give them nothing - but repsect - and beat them well.

GO Catters

Bit apprehensive about this one, the decision not to squeeze a ninth defender in there somewhere may just come back to bite us on the arse.

Seriously though, we should get the bikkies but it won't be a walk in the park, reckon Carlton will want to finish on a high, still if we can't take care of them I don't see much point in turning up for the finals.
