I heard that the AFL was going to hold off on it until the end of Round 22 because they want to fixture a game with big finals implications on the Monday Night (likely to be Adelaide v West Coast).

The Thursday Night final may mess with the finals fixture a bit since the AFL are keen to have the Thursday Night final in Adelaide, so it may just depend on where the Crows finish.

How does having the pre-finals bye keep non finalist fans interested for a week longer. Surely it is the opposite.

Not if is in West Sydney. What happens with the Saturday arvo/Sunday final if Thurs night? Which goes? As to the fixture if there is a Monday game than Friday/Monday should be the blockbusters. Only 2 would be Crows v Eagles, North v GWS. Scramble the rest. With the week off some teams may not want too big a break as it could cost momentum.

Remember the 2 teams that win the QFs will now have played only once in a month by the PF.

Unpopular as I would be antsy but as a neutral the week off is fasinating. Opens a whole new dimension. Think thou it will end up advantaging the Hawks. Old list. Breaking down. But the 2-3 weeks off will enable them to get through in 1 piece and have them in smoking form.

So as a neutral I honestly think they will be near impossible to stop.

They won't do that - supporters need to make travel plans etc. It will be announced soon.

Average the games out by ladder positions then play 1 game each night from the Thursday of Round 23 til the following Friday, Footy every night before a week off and the highest teams still get the longest breaks.

Perhaps do a split round of sorts at the end of the season, so all the sides that are in the 8 at the time the final round is announced play in the first week (and get their week off before the finals if they still qualify), while sides challenging to steal a finals spot around 8th and the also-rans playing for pride below them play in the second week - it's not ideal, but I think it would be much better than SFA in the final week.
