And listening to the crowd still singing along after play had restarted made me want to throw up. BUT what really topped it off was at the very end of the game when the crowd started chanting “Liiiiooonns” ALA “Colllingwoooood”. My son and I couldn’t get out of there quick enough! Not sure if it’s been mentioned yet but the songs they play after goals is the cringiest shit ever.
Playing them way too long if they’re still blaring after the ball’s already been bounced in the middle.

Sammy, you’re right but there were at least 3 or 4 that need to be dropped before CJ.We lost to a very very good team that showed up our weaknesses. No need to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Weddle for CJ if fit.
Then we need at least another mid - Harry for Breust or one of the 4 talls (Lewis or Dear).
Just literally last week he was one of our best, with almost 30 touches. You didn't see that game? Why?
If the hawks are going to play 4 talls then the small forwards need to apply a mountain of pressure.
CMac is good at receiving and running into open goals against Essendon in Autumn, but he cannot bring pressure - or much else - when it matters.
Strange comment given we were only 4 points down at the end of the game, only to get the worse umpiring decision in living history that cost us the game.we where not close tonight ...lons kick straight its a 6 goals win
That's exactly right. Surely a contender for the howler of the year. Even then, it's a crap rule by design. Impossible to adjudicate.Strange comment given we were only 4 points down at the end of the game, only to get the worse umpiring decision in living history that cost us the game.
I expected that we would, and we probably would have if not for the Fabio Grosso 2006 World Cup level howler. It really just seemed like a good team getting beaten by a better team.
It was a frustrating game at times but I think a few people seemed to expect that we would win it?
Agree totally. My theory, is in the absence of the usual whipping boy, CJ took his place.Edit - I didn’t think CJ was that bad at all - one obvious horrible decision but even the greats have had those moments. He plays with a lot of intent and physicality in the finals his little bit of X factor will be handy
How many goals did he kick?Just literally last week he was one of our best, with almost 30 touches. You didn't see that game?
Quality of the umpires aside i agree about the rules. As far as it is possible all 'interpretation' needs to taken out of the rules. Hands in the back is a free or its not.The issue is not the quality of umpires. It's the rules.
Even the most highly trained full time professional umpire cannot adjudicate the deliberate rule properly. Because it literally cannot be interpreted without the ability to read minds. Which, as far as I'm aware, humans do not have.
Either have it the way it was, or have a last touch rule.

Also a lot of Hail Mary bombs out of D50 with no method other than to clear the area. Brisbane quickly noticed that and started pressing which resulted in all those clearances being marked. We are not a very accountable team when our opponent has the ball. I notice the way a lot of the other top teams put you under constant pressure and disrupt your ball movement. Hawthorn never seem to be able to maintain that over the course of a game only in short bursts. Here is what I noticed.
1. When we got the ball to CHF, it was very annoying how easily Brisbane were able to turn the ball over and send it back the other way.
2. We didn't seem to have any system for kicking out after a behind (and there were a lot of them). While Brisbane were able to run the ball out easily without any Hawthorn player even getting close.
Very, very annoying.
We have the matchup for Hogan, Key Forwards are not what I lose sleep over anymore. Kelly is a good in but we could also get Weddle back. Load up the midfield IMO so we can transition the ball better.Giants will likely regain Hogan and Kelly.
His “almost goal of the year” was pretty much a tap in though by the time he got to kick it. Costly miss. Needed to nail that.I wouldn't say embarrassing, but needs addressing.
Largely ignored out of last night's game was how close Jai was to being the match winner. Went stupidly close to kicking 3 straight, one of which may have been goal of the year.
Also shouldn't have passed it to Watson in the pocket. He absolutely had the distance from 52 out.
One of the most annoying nights of my life. It's a footy match not a f**king concert. And listening to the crowd still singing along after play had restarted made me want to throw up. BUT what really topped it off was at the very end of the game when the crowd started chanting “Liiiiooonns” ALA “Colllingwoooood”. My son and I couldn’t get out of there quick enough!
I don’t disagree, he was not our worst and would be stiff but Weddle back would force a reshuffle so CJ is the unlucky one in my view.Sammy, you’re right but there were at least 3 or 4 that need to be dropped before CJ.
Beating up on also rans is kinda the point.Just literally last week he was one of our best, with almost 30 touches. You didn't see that game?
CJ has a bit of Frosty about him. 95% of the time he is pretty good and athletic as anyone and looks the part. But every single game there is that one goatAgree totally. My theory, is in the absence of the usual whipping boy, CJ took his place.
