Very hard to drop Reville after 13 Disposals, 4 Contested Possessions, 3 Interceptions 4 Marks, 2 Goal Assists (Team High), 382 metres gained (6th Highest). Reville also ran both ways, playing 50% Back Half 50% Forward Half. His kicking is super penetrating and we look so much more damaging with him in the side. There is no way that Beeken gets a game before Reville.

Reville also has super high football IQ.
I would say he is nearly as smart as Ryan Lester.

SpecialBruce

Reville is playing the McKenna role and given his penetrating disposal by foot, he brings a little Daniel Rich into the equation. In time he will be seen as a real upgrade. There’s a little bit of Tim Notting in there too.

Bruce can do this! (Start at 5.20 in)

And so it begins ... must remember not to let Bruce (who I like) start to feel like little Nicky where folk's over the top praising or constant referencing inspired a level of push back and souring.

I want him to come good but I don't want to know his every stat and why he is each games messiah...

True.
Reville has a lot of potential even though he is 25 next February.
Like most players they need more AFL exposure to adjust their game to the difference in pace and how their teammates move during the game.
He should retain his spot this week.
If so, that will make it 10 AFL games this season
Only 3 full games for the 9 so far. The remainder either sub or subbed off.

He actually played more games in 2024 being his first year.
Had 9 full games and 3 sub affected games, but no finals.

I think last Friday was the best I’d seen him play.
But if we had a full squad to chose from, he wouldn’t be best 23 in my view.
Sorry 3KZ, I’m not a believer yet. 😂

You will be.

Agree. It’s impossible not to like Lester regardless of the creepy BF stalking day after day, week after week BUT not sure I can do the same for Bruce

Bruce Reville is the new Josh Drummond, although when Josh did finally get his chance he was more an instant success where Bruce is sneaking up. Pinpoint long kicking is the similarity I think and Bruce is building his confidence around that. He is one of those players with ball in hand does seem to take a moment to aim up. I have my other favourite players but I do have a soft spot for Bruce that feels we have not seen the best of him yet, but the more he plays the better he gets, I like his poise and can see him as an important cog driving attack out of defence, maybe after Zorko retires - if ever he does.

Josh Drummond fit and playing his best footy was if not the best one of the best kicks I have seen, awesome. Pity his career was cruelled by injury.

Given it looks likely we’ll lose Ah Chee (not confirmed, just looks that way), I could see Reville taking on his role. He can pretty much play anywhere.

I think it opens a spot for Annable and rotating mids forward

Clearly not like for like but we'll want to pump games into him

Also hopefully we rookie McFadyen and he could potentially be used in a similar role

Lachie didn't sound 100% confident he'd play in the first final

Wonder if he win this week he'll be given an extra week off
I took from him that if we finish top 4 then he may not play.

This game has got the feeling of a must win for me if we are to go back2back, such a pivotal game towards this particular era of Lions players becoming recognised as an all time great team.

If we were to win it this season we could go on to win another 1-2 flags over the ensuing few years IMO, we are stacked with the right age bracket of elite players and potentially more are coming. eg. Oscar Allen, Daniel Annabel, Caylen Murray + other possible trade ins.

Shutting down linc for this year and giving him a one year deal also a possible sign we are not confident of keeping cal.

Me too. Feels like we'll need the security of the double chance this year.

I’ll be surprised if Cal leaves despite all the talk in the media.
I'll be very happy with this is true but Im also mentally preparing myself for players to leave.

Its almost impossible to stay at the top for long without other clubs trying to raid the experienced (but maybe underpaid or "under" utilised guys to play bigger roles) guys. I dont doubt that every year we will be losing one or 2 players that we would love to keep.

I like McFadyen. Seems to have a good footy IQ. Wouldn't be surprised to see him picked up before we got a chance to rookie him.

The Gabba this year with one game to play.
A mixed bag of results.

6 wins: Eagles 19, Cats 9, Suns 17, Bombers 18, Power 28, Dogs 10
4 losses: Pies 52, Demons 11, GWS 11 and Swans 2

So, we beat 3 good sides and lost to 2 good sides
Hopefully Sunday we make that 4 & 2
