Sponsors want them, and that is more valuable to clubs then 5/10k less people in the stands. Also Thursdays are shit and no one should want them. Adelaide are being favoured by avoiding them.

Sure. But fans shouldn't be upset by their team not playing in them.Sponsors want them, and that is more valuable to clubs then 5/10k less people in the stands.
4 teams at the MCG at the same time would have to be a recordWhy not Thursday being Gold Coast v Port instead of Essendon.
There isn’t many decent games, but at least Gold Coast will be playing finals. Then the double header on Friday could be Collingwood v Melbourne and the dead rubber Essendon v Carlton. People could tune again to watch Collingwood who will at least playing finals.
Also don’t Gold Coast the longer break before Essendon? At least they have something to plan for. Who cares if Essendon’s routine/recovery is ****ed.
Or you know, play the double header on the Thursday.

So Channel 7 can broadcast it during Sunday night primetimeWhy is Brisbane Hawthorn at night?
And the 2 worth watching are on the SundayWhat a lame set of matches.
But what about Brisbane/QLD crowd attendees? So Channel 7 can broadcast it during Sunday night primetime
lol channel 7 not opting to show ess v carlton on the thursday night
Top 4 spot will likely be on the line (technically) in the gold coast game. They'll be able to build that up into something that's more attractive than watching Carlton.... to rather instead show the gc vs essendon game the next wednesday which originally was a fox game so they have swapped games with fox
odd decision as i would've thought ess/carl would rate higher than gc/ess
Yeah I love all the Suns Thursday and Friday night games we’ve gotten in the back end of the season because we have to play the Wednesday game.Carlton v Essendon was forced to be on Thursday or Friday because Essendon have a game the following Wednesday.
This means that both Carlton and Essendon had to have most of their games in the back end of the season on Thursdays/Fridays and Saturdays.
It's not a conspiracy.
Which is why I said Saturday as well. 7 prioritised Essendon and Carlton in this arrangement because even they're shit they still would rate better that the GC.Yeah I love all the Suns Thursday and Friday night games we’ve gotten in the back end of the season because we have to play the Wednesday game.
Unless theyre against Collingwood, I would expect their final to be Saturday Afternoon/twilight. Its where the AFL like to hide the game with the smallest teams.Saturday night all to ourselves![]()
I’m more interested in the Week 1 fixture. After that 5 day break into pre-finals bye (and assuming they make it), they should get the late game regardless. Pencil in the guaranteed matchups first, and leave the pending ones for Sat night/Sun. Given the Cyclone impact forget the Thursday night final and shift them all back one. Suns last had a bye in R14, so that’s eleven consecutive weeks, deserves the 10 day break before their first final.
The ideal fixture is:Saturday night all to ourselves![]()

Yeah no I’d back GC vs GWS in Rd 23 to have rated more than Ess vs Stkilda on the Friday night. People want to watch games with finals implications, not dead rubbers. The AFL just guessed that Essendon would be in contention still and so prioritised the vic team.Which is why I said Saturday as well. 7 prioritised Essendon and Carlton in this arrangement because even they're shit they still would rate better that the GC.
However 2 in 7 weeks, when you've had none in 15 years. Would you have got either if it wasn't for the Wednesday game? Debatable.
What about them? It's the final home game of the year and could be crucial for the Lions securing a Top 4/8 spot. If that's not incentive enough to attend I don’t know what is...But what about Brisbane/QLD crowd attendees?
It's ridiculous.Suns have confirmed their rd 24 fixtures. Friday night vs Port and Wed vs Essendon

The fact we’re going into our first final series and Essendon still got the better breaks with the rd23 Friday game and their 1st rd24 Thursday game astounds me.
Meaning a fourth 5 Day Break for Essendon this year, which is not allowed. As mentioned 100 times in the thread already.2) the GC v Ess game could have been on the Tues night (5 day break), so that GC have more time before their first final
This game will easily sell out. Not only are the Lions hot in Qld right now but Hawthorn has one of the biggest support bases in SEQ. The Lions could play a Vic club on Wednesday and sell out the Gabba easily. But what about Brisbane/QLD crowd attendees?
