U18 Champs Round 2A - Vic Metro vs Vic Country

Young
Serong
Anderson
Rowell

All on 20 touches and all look like top ten picks, the depth of both sides I think is severely lacking
A lot of figjam about Rowell and Anderson, they'd only kick to each other.
Flanders was very good, could've had a bag.

Dylan Williams was very quiet early, did he pick up an injury or get a hard hit I didn't see?

Copped a knock in the 2nd quarter, they tried to play him out but just decided to bench him.

Didn’t show much zip early in the game either which tbh he hasn’t showed all year which says to me that he might be carrying an injury

Ash will be an AA half back flanker during his AFL career.

The club that gets him from 7-14ish is going to be very happy.

He’s better than Jordan Clark last year.

Flanders will be the Jack Higgins/Toby Greene type player from this draft that also gets picked up in the early teens and will just naturally translate into a good damaging footballer at the next level. He reminds me a bit of Rockliff in all honesty.

At this early point, can you name 6 players rated higher?

Right now I'd be confident in 3. Rowell, Anderson and Young.

best players from my PoV were
1. Flanders - VC
2. Serong - VC
3. Comben - VC
4. Ash - VC
5. Young - VC
6. Rowell - VM
7. Cahill - VC
8. Baldi - VC
9. Dow - VC
10. Anderson - VM

mentions: J.Smith, Rantall, Maginness, Butler, Carafa, McAsey

I think that’s more my point.

More eluding to not many HBF’s going that high in the draft.

I think Green’s bid will come before Ash as well.

Thought I was alone in rating Flanders performance today, was exceptional.

Flanders looks ready to make the transition and could play early next year across half forward.

Serong was brilliant in close, has very clean hands.

And finally Young and Ash were damaging off half back. I wouldn't mind seeing Young in the black and white but he's a top 5 pick for me.

I think it was great to see the running capacity from Rowell and Anderson on a big ground like the MCG.

You know they can get to contest after contest on the smaller grounds.

After a slow start....they were still running hard late in the game.

As for the FIGJAM comments about those two....they were just about the only Metro boys with any competitive fight late in the contest.
