Ian Perrie – North Adelaide

Ian played a very competitive game, giving a good contest at all times, and whilst not a high possession game, Ian certainly did compete well. He was always looking to take front position and if he was unable to mark he made sure the ball came to the front. His skills were good and his defensive work inside North’s forward 50m was very good.
Has anyone heard Andrew Jarman's interview on 5AA??????

Jars was straight to the point and very honest when asked of his impressions of Perrie's game. Jars went on to say that he was really disappointed in Sarge's attitude and his body language. He had spoken to him after the game about this.

From Jars' comments, I am almost certain that Perrie will not be picked this week.

I see it as having 2 options and neither fills me with excitement.

1.) We drop Bassett because he is badly out of form in the last month and bring in Hudson to play as a back up to Clarke. This leaves Biglands to play as a defender and would keep Kenny at CHF:(

OR

2) We keep Bassett in and play one of Kenny, Bassett or Biglands as a key forward.

Neither of these fill me with excitement but those are the only 2 options I can see. Ayres did say in the after match mwdia confewrence that he would like to persist with Kenny at CHB.:(

Was just about to mention that. He said something about he didn't like the way Perrie handled himself after the game either and a caller earlier in the night mentioned how Sarge looked disinterested and less than competitive.

I must admit I am very disappointed in hearing that. I expected Sarge to play well and show AFC that they made a mistake. From all reports Bode was fantastic. Apparenlty he was really ****ed off at being dropped and went out all guns blazing to prove the selectors wrong. I am certain Bode will get a recall this week.

Ideally Kenny should return to CHB to cover Polak.

We could start with a smaller forward line this week, with Stevens CHF & Welsh/Carey as the other marking targets. Would enable us to play more crumbers (something we have been lacking). Can use Biglands for a bit or even the likes of Nige to pinch hit up forward as require.

The problem with Stevens is that he is not a KPP type. He is a tall flanker so I don't think he would be of much use in a KP as he would get outmuscled easily.

I guess we will have to wait until tommorrow (??????) to find out who gets in the squad. If Hudson gets in and 2 ruckman remain in and Bassetts gets dropped then its fair to say that Biglands will play in a KP most probably down back.

I do not like the idea of Biglands or even Hudson playing as a KPP. I would prefer to play the out of favour Perrie at CHF.

Isn't Hart supposed to be coming back this week?? If he does then Bassett would be in grave danger of being omitted after an absolute schaisenhausen of a game last week.

Bode would have to be a good chance to come into the team in place of Ladhams (what a prick of a game he played!!).

Doughty would be in real danger - the selectors wouldn't have missedt he incident where he piked it badly. Who would take his spot, if that happens??

I'd like to see Hudson come in - I really would. But who goes out for him ??

Ladhams is defintely an out. Dogga & Bassett would be in grave danger.

You would expect Hart would be an automatic in. Who takes the other 2 spots? Personally, playing 3 ruckmen (1 as a KPP) is crazy, as none of them have proven they can play as a KPP. I would play Sarge & Burns, for his crumbing ability.

Now that I don't agree with because we would be rewarding mediocrity. Why would you give a game to 2 players that are not in form??????

Ladhams and Doughty are definite outs. Doughty will not be forgiven for that "incident".

Bassett is in real danger of getting the arse after a month of ordinary footy.

Hudson deserves a go because he has been nothing short of terrific throughtout the pre-season. I am not too thrilled with the idea of playing 3 ruckman either but at least we are rewarding Hudson for his form.

We can't give games to blokes that haven't earned it. AFL games shouldn't be given out as charity. Players have to earn them and the likes of Perrie and Burns haven't earned them so far.

taking 3 ruckman to the big Subiaco ground is very dangerous.
You need ball carriers. Doughty could be OK in Subiaco, beacuse the big ground may mean he may not need to come in contact with anyone from the opposition.

I don't think that will happen because Ayres said at the after match press conference that he was happy with Rhett's effort and fighting spirit in the 2nd half.

I doubt that we will drop Biglands. Maybe we will drop Clarke (very doubtful IMHO)

If we bring in 3 ruckman it will be at the expense of a KPP in Bassett. The only KPP that might come under consideration is Perrie but I don't like his chances after his performance with the Roosters.

Pity that fighting spirit didn't reflect in any stats.
Maybe he just ran around the field well.

We need a CHF not another ruckman! It is all about team balance. Playing 3 ruckman is crazy stuff. If AFC want to play Huddo, then it should be at either Biglands' or Clarke's expense.

As for whether we play Bode, Dogga or Burns, I'm not too fussed. We need a crumbing forward around Carey ASAP.

Subiaco will suit Burns ideally. Will be surprised if he doesnt get the nod - coach has a lot of faith in him.

12 possesions, 3 marks, 20 hitouts and 4 tackles is better than his usual performances.

Rhett has traditionally been a slow starter and usually needs a month of AFL season before he fires up. this year is no different.

Then I didn't see his 20 hitouts, because I can't remember him actually getting his hands to the ball first ( and that has been a strength of his).
If he takes a few games to get up to speed, then play him in the SANFL, and make him earn his spot.
Since when did he win the right to be an automatic selection.

Stiffy, I sincerely believe Biglands has been very very average in the first 2 games. And IMO I do not believe Hudson could do any worse, and it may give Biglands the shot up the a.. that he needs right now.

He was crap against Kangaroos and in the 1st half of the game against Lions. I thought he did improve in the 2nd half. He is still no where near his best but that can be said for at least another dozen players.

Hudson deserves a go. Ayres has said in the past that he would feel very comfortable in playing Biglands in KP so I really wouldn't be surprised if we play 3 ruckman against Freo and drop Bassett

I thought he was terrific in the second half against Brisbane

He acutally tooka flying pack mark in the third quarter that wa a joy to behold

If Hudson plays it should be as the third big man.

Interesting. Id put Stenglein on Pavlich to start with and take it from there.

Tough with the ins and outs, here are mine:

IN <-- Bode, Hudson, Burns
OUT --> Doughty, Bassett, Ladhams (both need to find some form in the SANFL apart from poo ol lad)

Knowing Bassett's record at Subiaco he is no great loss.

It would be great to see Hudson get a lot of game time to be honest, mainly play him as a rucking forward with a few bits in the centre to rest Clarke and Biglands. They are clearly the best two ruckman we have so keep them for the main rucking duels.

We have the midfield to go with Freo at our best, their's may be pretty quick and its on their home ground but if we could only play 4 quarters we'd almost be ok. Stopping the drive of Bell and Hasleby, the all round ability of Pavlich, and the keg legged Medhurst should be top priorities. I reckon Sandilands can be nullified with quality blokes like Clarke and espec Biglands who has the mass to almost cope with him. I also rate Ben Cunningham, he thrashed us in the middle and up forward in a trial game with 4 goals I think, and he seems quite quick.

Freo will prolly win but we are getting closer to a breakthrough victory.

I don't think we will be taggin anyone this week. I get the funny feeling that Gary will back his players in to show that he still believes in them. Stenglein might play in defence on Polak.
