Team Captain
Hey guys, long time reader first time poster, being on school holidays and having a bit of spare time on my hands, i thought id do a preview of this weeks game.
Head to Head - Played 226, Carlton 117 Essendon 105 Draws 4
Last 5 Games - Carlton 2, Essendon 2, Draws 1
Last Week
What went right
IN: Kreuzer, Armfield and Jamison
OUT: Betts, Edwards and Bower
There the changes i'd be making this week, with Krezuer and Armfield making their debuts for the blues and Jamison returning from injury. Eddie Betts need a wake up call, he does some amazing things but he finds the simple stuff incredibly hard. Bower and Edwards omitted for team balance.
Matchups
FF: Fisher Fevola Krezuer
FB: Nash Michael Fletcher
HF: Murphy Wait Houlihan
HB: Winderlich, Ryder, Ramanauskas
C: Scotland Hadley Gibbs
C: Houli Watson Dyson
HB: Simpson Bannister Jamison
HF: Lovett McPhee Welsh
FB: Hille Lloyd Davey
FF: Thornton O'Halpin Armfield
Forward Line
The game for me, will be one and lost in the midfield, Essendons pace is an asspect of their game where we could get caught out. The easiest way to counterattack this is by winning the clearances and the contested footy hopefully Juddy and Stevo are playing well and the other more experienced guys have better games. (Carrazzo, Simpson, Scotland)
Blues by 27.

What went right
- Waite on Reiwoldt, to keep him goaless until the 10 minute mark of the final term is a huge effort.
- The games from youngsters Pffifer, Gibbs, Murphy and Russel.
- Bannister on Dal Santo, although dal had 21 touches i thought Bannister did a good job shutting him down.
- Our inability to play four quarters
- Our footskills
- Our decision making

Forward Line
- Houlihan must play forward, in my opinion he should play they for the rest of the year, his finishing skills and polish is something we lack, and he is much more damaging as a forward than as a rebound defender.
- Waite should also play forward, without Lucas Essendon are a tall short down forward, so there is really no need to play Waite in defence. He provides an option across half forward, and will also help out Fevola.
- Rotate Cloke, Hampson and Kreuzer through the ruck, forward and bench. (Want Krezuer to spend limited time in the ruck because he is a young developing body)
- Not sure on Hadley's fitness but if he plays i hope he runs with Watson. Could hurt him on the rebound.
- We back our other mid's to beat their direct opponents.
- Irish starts on Lloyd and Thorton is our "Plan B"
- Simpson plays more of a stopper role this week on Lovett
- Bannister runs with McPhee, for the entire night, regardless of where he lines up.
