With Hentschel in doubt for the game against the Dockers who should replace him? If Stevens is fit it is a no brainer, but I get the feeling he wont be ready either.

I want to put Shirley somewhere in the team, but I am not sure who you would drop. Griffin probably deserves a run but the whole three ruckmen thing IMO isn't the way to go.

For me its Gill in for Hentschel. Gill has a big tank which is perfect for the vast expanses of Subiaco and is a good mark. He provides a genuine target at CHF which you can build a forward line around.

Gill in for Hentshel if Hentshel and Stevens are not fit.

Also feel Symes needs to come in to harden up the backline a bit. My heart says drop Doughty, but I don't think that's going to happen.

Capitalist you beat me to it...sounds good if Stevens is not fit.

I would also bring Shirley in for Douglas as we are an inside mid short at the moment and it will free up Knights to play his normal role rather than trying to be a tagger. Douglas needs to find his early 2008 form, as at present, he is playing well below expectations. Let him know that he does not have a gold pass, then hopefully he lifts his output (assuming he is not carrying an injury).

I don't know Cappy, with the size of Subiaco you want a more mobile team and forward line, and for me that means Gill.

Also FWIW if Bock is ruled out and Stevens/Hentshel both don't come up presumably we'll see one of Sellar or Moran make a come back?

Thats a good point, I guess it comes down to who played better on the weekend.

I know Griffin and Moran played well, I can't remember how Gill went, I'm not convinved Sellar did enough to get a game (saying that I have no idea how he went apart from the stats)

Gill got 4 goals and was high in the best.

And as for Sellar and Moran I'm thinking if Bock is out we'll need another KP defender, and I reckon if Stevens and Hentshel aren't fit they're the only fit blokes in our club left who fill that category.

Gill had 17 disposals (13 kicks, 4 handballs)
12 marks
4 goals 1

That is a difficult situation, as CG just said bringing Griffin helps against Sandilands (for Trent) and say a Moran for Bock.

That seems to leave too much to do for Walker, which is why they may drop him for Gill

I suppose it's all idle speculation until we have a clearer picture of the Bock/Stevens/Hentshel situations.

Also, the way the tribunal goes I wouldn't put it past them to rub out Ivarn for "attempting to strike"

All really depends however on how Hentschel and Stevens pull up. Stevens is a walk up start, I just get the feeling however that the Crows feel there is only room for one of Hentschel and Walker, as evidenced by Walker almost being dropped last week, they both have quite similar games and barring the preseason, neither have really fired together, however when Walker was given a decent run in the second half of the game on the weekend, he certainly lifted and had 4 (should have been 5, that was clearly a 15m pass from Petrenko) shots on goal.

If neither Hentschel nor Stevens pull up, then Gill will return to the side, however if one pulls up, then Gill will remain in the SANFL, if both pull up, then I feel one of Hentschel or Walker will drop out and if you'd asked me which at half time of the Saints match I would have said Walker, now I'm not so sure, he looked really dangerous in the second half and was a centimetres from 3 or 4 goals.

I think we might also find Symes and Shirley come into contention, and at this stage I think Symes might be the one. Both a great in and under players, clearance style players who like the tough stuff and I think we may be needing this at the moment. Who to come out though, I'm not sure, the thing is at the moment, no one is really having any "poor" games, we are getting a pretty even performance from all, which makes life tough for the selectors. It could be a Reilly or a Douglas, but really I'm not sure, Petrenko's name may be throw around, but I've quite liked him when he's been up forward, he provides great defensive pressure and whilst some have questioned his attack on the ball at times, I'm yet to really see it.

Griffin is another I wouldn't mind seeing brought in, again whilst I also like seeing Tippet have a bit of a run in the ruck, I really thought his game improved out of sight on the weekend because he was afforded some genuine time up forward due to us playing one less KPP. Again, who drops out? I'm not sure really, its a tough situation to be in if you are a selector. I'm going to have to sit on the fence at the moment I think and say I'll wait till later in the week to properly answer this, too many unknowns at the moment.

If 2 of those 3 aren't fit, I think we'll see Gill and perhaps Griffin. If it is all 3 then we will have to bring in a Moran/Sellar to cover the CHB post, if one is fit then we have no problems as all three are more than capable of playing there and beyond Pavlich and Tarrant, who I'd like to see Otten given a shot on, who is there to take?

Also, it was hard to tell at the ground, but will Maric have a case to answer for, for the incident in the 3rd quarter I think it was?

Yeah, Maric took a clear swing at him but basically missed, but with the MRP it is as always anyone's guess:thumbsd:

Interesting one this one.

Maric was quite correct when he said to the field ump just before copping 50 metres that "he punched me in the face" Maric had also attempted to strike the agressor back.

Common sense would say move on everybody, but it wouldn't surprise me to see both players being cited.

My dad's an umpire and on Saturday night all the umpires in the local league had a dinner thing to "celebrate" the start of the season and I was talking to a few of them about it and they all said Maric's fine and has nothing to worry about (and none of those umpires were Crows supporters...they actually HATE the Crows.)

Before the Game showed the incident and none of those guys on there even brought up that he could be in trouble, they were just showing it to ask Fitzy if Maric saying "HE HIT ME IN THE FACE!" is against the "players code". But if we had something to worry about, I think it would've been mentioned on there, or at least on the Sunday Footy Show today.

Pretty early to call who should come in to our team. Symes and Shirley should be under consideration. Just trying to figure out who Shirley tags ... Palmer? Haselby? do we really need to tag either

knights has a fractured eye socket, so i reckon he will be doubtful...
Wow, what a disaster of a weekend for the AFC. Hentschel injured, Knights injured and Bock and possibly Maric in trouble. Not good :thumbsd:
