Where did this information come from? First I've heard of it. If it's a baseless rumour, then a card will be coming your way.

In the "good bad and ugly" thread somebody came on and blasted people for getting stuck into Knights saying that he fractured his eye socket in a contest and played the rest of the match with it. I don't think it's been confirmed either way but it didn't just start in this thread.

Pretty early to call who should come in to our team. Symes and Shirley should be under consideration. Just trying to figure out who Shirley tags ... Palmer? Haselby? do we really need to tag either

On the other hand, usually you find when you tag a young player they don't handle it so well and you can remove them from the game. Then again, Palmer was handling tags in his first season anyway.

Am just a keen follower of footy, but I remember seeing Moran play as a tall forward last year at some stage and vaguely remember his outstnading marking ability and goal kicking prowess, any chance he could play as a forward, if this seems to be the area lacking, Walker and Hentschell (if fit) both need to play in the same forward line and need to learn to play together, as they are going to have to play that way if the crows are to be serious contenders for a top 8 finish.

Judging by reports on Griffin and the progress by Tippett in the forward line and not in the ruck, I imagine he'll get the nod.

If Bock doesnt play, perhaps stevens will take hes place down back.

Hentshell should be ok but if not, bring griffen or moran in and use either tippett ot moran up forward. I thought Moran was ok up forward last year, hes got a decent mark.

If knights doesnt play, bring Symes in.

If knights does play, drop Reilly and bring Symes in anyway. Tired of reilly.

Bottom line with hentschell is he hasnt been given alot of game time. Doubt hes played 75 mins up forward this season so far. He needs time to come back into the game after 900 odd days out.

I dont think Walker should be dropped at all throughout the year. He was unlucky not to have 3 goals after htiting the post twice, and that pass from petrenko was easily over 15 metres so could have been 4 goals.

Douglas will come good too. He was played up forward all last year and that wasnt his spot.

I dunno why, but i would like to see Gill come in, i reckon it will just give us more structure up forward. He could play like a burton role roaming the 50, pulling goals out of his ass.

If knights misses, please bring shirley in.
Bock misses - Moran comes in.
Maric misses (which he really shouldn't) Griff comes in.
Hopefully stevens can come back.

How can you say that when we're only 2 rounds into the year? It's inevitable that first year (and second year if they only played 1-2 games the year before) players don't play all 22 rounds - last year Mackay and Tippett were both dropped back to the SANFL - they get tired and travelling every second week takes a toll on them. Walker (and the rest - Petrenko, Otten, etc) will get dropped for a couple of weeks to freshen up.

I'd be suprised if we see Trent before the mid year break now. Another knee op (even if only an arthroscope) does not bode well. 3-4 weeks is very optimistic I think.

So,
Out:Trent
In: Stevens

I'd like to find a spot for Griffin to help in the ruck and possibly Gill, but have no idea who to drop (not Walker).

****ing hell poor Trent.:thumbsd:

For me bring in hopefully Stevens or it not Moran.

I think Knights has defelcted abit of the attention off Rielly for his poor games so wouldnt mind seeing him have a run in the SANFL for Symes aswell.

In

Griff
Gill

Out
Hentchel
Walker

So, how would the forward line look?

Porps, Gill, Petrenko
Douglas, Tippett, Knights

Looks mighty short! Neither Gill nor Tippett are known for their conversion. Really Walker or Stevens in imo.

Out: Trent

In: Griff

Increase Walkers TOG and give Maric some runs through the forward line

Edit: Stevens over Griff obviously if fit.

We went in 1 tall less than required last week imo (due to the flexibility lost with Stevens who can play a running/roaming role if required).

I know the game is on the vast expanses of Subiaco but we still need an additional tall, with at least one of them must have running ability (ie Stevens or Gill or even Moran if played as a forward/ruck).

Given the opposition, maybe it's time for Griffin to get another opportunity in his home state but his lack of around the ground/forward work may count against him (though he has racked up some better numbers in the SANFL over the past 2 weeks).

Others to press for spots are Symes, Shirley and Cook (who would be suited to the expanses of Subi with his run and carry).

Would not like to see Walker out just yet, really threatened in the second half, if we look for him and he can find a bit of space on the lead, as well as roam up to half forward i think he'll get more shots on goal and convert.

Let's give Knights another week in the run-with role. Shirley was given a lot of opportunities before he elevated his standards in the role. Not saying Shirley wouldn't deserve a promotion based on his game with Eagles but i don't think we can expect another bloke to immediately step up to a defensive role with immediate results before we go back to Shirley. Perhaps the Geelong game would be a good opportunity for another experienced defensive midfielder to be selected so i believe Shirley will be bach in R4.

Reilly probably gets another week to cement his position before Symes walks into it, though it's a close call. Symes has more footy nous and intensity and defensive abilities, Reilly has the skill (but perhaps not the decision making). Both lack pace but Symes' intelligence may mask it more.

Douglas was down (yes even accounting for a defensive role) but is it enough to be dropped? On its own merits probably not but given we need an extra tall (imo) he may be squeezed out for structural reasons.

Nightmare selection week!

Early thoughts:

OUT: Hentschel, Douglas

IN: Stevens, Moran.

Gill, Griffin, Cook, Symes, Shirley all very stiff and any of those could easily be selected!

As much as I love Gills freakishness, if we are to move forward as a club, Sellar or another youngster should be given a go ahead of him.
