hold Langdon for loophole purposes
Crouch to Cripps

Hadn't really considered holding ZGL until you mentioned it.

Gave it some thought and reckon this only works if you have all the good rookies covered. In my case, I don't have Liam Ryan (went Venables instead). Because early cash generation is imperative, need money making rooks over donuts.

ZGL is set to miss 4 weeks through injury. It could be longer and as a non-established player, I think he might not come straight in to a strong Giants line-up. That makes him 5 weeks away at best.

At his current average, Ryan will make $190K in 5 weeks (and will still be rising). A more realistic average might be 65, which would still see a $150K rise in 5 weeks with more to come. It also likely another of my forward rooks will be dropped or ready to cull by then anyway (at which ZGL could be the downgrade). It costs an extra trade but for $150K + at the start of the season in the trickiest area of the field (fwds) it is worth it.

Loophole doesn't worry me (have Olango for captaincy) as the fwd rookies on my bench (Garlett, Venables) have a top score of 61 between them.

IMO at this stage of the season it's crazy trading someone in just for loophole purposes. Those opportunities will present themselves naturally through the season. What if you cop 2 injuries in the mids this week? Then you are forced to trade and your loophole is worthless anyway. It's all about cash gen at this time of the year.
That is true , ill change wilson to a playing rookie , i was probs just mad about missing out on holmans score

Having Sicily and Greene and ZGL in my team this week in really gonna sting. Considering trading hibberd, swinging Sicily back then trading in a premo fwd, maybe McLean? Any other suggestions?

Please help.
Am I jumping the gun by trading out Z. Merret who will lose money in next few weeks....
for someone like Coniglio or another premo mid?

My advice for everybody trading Hibberd is HOLD HOLD HOLD. I understand that he is about to lose money, but through my experience of being awful at Supercoach I have learnt that you need to hold and trust your premiums for as long as possible. back to back 70's isn't ideal, but unless he is still posting these scores by round 6 or 7, your are risking burning a trade you may desperately need later in the season. I had Kade Simpson last season and he posted a bunch of 70's and 80's. Heath Shaw burnt you all and people are looking to forgive and burn Hibberd 2 weeks in. If you can, just chill!

Problem is I have no chill! I'm swinging the axe and hibberd gonna cop it

Is anyone sticking fat with Hibberd? Surely not a lost cause at this stage....

You pick a guy at that price to be a keeper. If you trade him out now, you have fired him from your side.

FWIW, think he'll end up a top 10 defender at years end. He'll come good eventually

That's a lot of faith ......Shaw like faith .....Pendlebury like faith

I haven't seen much trade talk of late on ZGL. Are people keeping him for now?
Yeah for sure. Helps me loop the best fwd rookie since they are a dice roll, especially the wce forwards, 30 one week then 110 another. Zgl looked really promising on the field and i can see him finding his way back into the team when his hand has healed.

Whats changed is his role....(I didn't start him)
Can you back in a guy thats roll has a major importance to his scoring?

Options

Hibberd to Heater
Naughton to Bonner

Or.

Hibberd to Heater
ZGL to Ryan

In leaning towards option 1. Thoughts?
Not sure about the zgl to ryan. Sure he dropped a 110 but the week before he dropped a 30. Take advantage of looping the best fwd rookie in your forward line. For instance i have garlett, venables and fritsch.
Put emergency on garlett on friday, he does well put langdon on field, he stinks swap langdon out for venables or fritsch.
Langon will come back in a month and start making you bank.

I looked at this... ZGL has too many early games in the next 5 weeks to be useful as a loopy

I think you just miss out on Titch/ Taranto don't you?

Actually I can.

Hmmmmm.....

Tim Taranto. $350k-ish. Racking up disposals and tackles. Scully out for extended time, and no other Giant mids to come in.
FWD only, but that's OK. Could end up top 6 FWD if he continues this run in the midfield.

Peeps what are your thoughts on Taranto?

Fwd/Mid

ZGL is not playing. Ryan is.

Ryan is set to make anywhere between $50,000 - $70,000 in the next 3 weeks.

If you choose to keep the trade but miss out on the cash generation then you'll be behind the eight ball. If you choose to pursue the cash generation then you'' be ahead of the game imho.

Each to there own.

fwiw, I have both. In fact 4 rookies in my fwd line but looking likely to trade ZGL to Zac Fisher and cash in on the $150,000 when ZGL is due to come back in and upgrade a Brayshaw or Holam at the same round for a Titch/Dusty.

All about forward planning. As minimum trades as possible to get yourself the best possible team

Risky as, awkward price, 2nd year player, if you already have Cogs or don't have the money to get him in he could work out.
Giants have so many players to share points around, but you probably already know this.

What’s he going to average? That’s all that matters. I want to know too as the temptation to rage chop Sicilian is strong.

During the season maybe has merit, but before price changes, its not a bad idea.....if Hibberd has another bad game, he will plummet in price, you can trade him out now at current high value, bank cash and then get hibbo in later at bottom price when he shows signs of scoring well again?

This is a very important trade week given last chance before price changes.

Hibbs scoring seems directly tied to melbournes def setup, which is not set in stone, and who knows when it will be.
Hibb is not kicking in either, so that's even less points.
He could come good in one week, three weeks or never?

If you think that there is another premo in a solid job role with solid scoring potential, I think it is a very good trade, with a small chance of backfiring.

I think simpson is a good trade in targets (as does most of aus apparently) because of two things.
1 - Stealing Dochs points
2 - Blues leaking heaps of inside 50's, so the ball is down back a lot.
2.5 .. in 2016 Simpson was a gun and could be back to this form without Doch.

Still considering him but looking at Fisher as it allows me a better mid.

Also less risk with Fisher due to his price. Reckon he has less competition for his spot too. He's doing well. Bolton would be made to move him.

Taranto has Hopper and Griffen coming back.

What would y'all do? Beams is going, but my issue is $0 in the bank, yes 0

Really want Titch because I'll never get him, only way is Hibberd/Lambert out for Bonner/Taranto type

EDIT: When I trade Beams/Hibberd out and Titch in, I have $449,300 for a defender.

Options are Ryan, Stewart, Marchbank, Wilson?

**** makes me sad knowing I couldve just started with Titch and Ryan, id be top 1k instead of 19k...
