Yep , just thinking about the NRL , the competition wasn't always this close.
I think they had about 20 or so teams in their comp. at one stage .
One in WA and SA and a few more Sydney teams. Axed the expansion teams and amalgamated a few teams together and now have a 16 team comp. Giving a better spread of first graders.
I think the Afl have made the mistake expanding the competition when clearly there isn't enough first grade players.
It is a friggan joke of a competition if you have teams playing literary half a youth squad.
The supporters are the ones expected to go to games and support this competition, code, is it any wonder that they drop off when times are grim.
Lets face facts we would of had the GWS and Gold coast picks instead of those compromised early draft picks.
What other code does this, youth policy, they have got it wrong imo, how can you charge people $50 to watch a non competitive game.
I don't think it matters what code you watch, they all have some appeal when the level is first grade and the game is competitive.
And to the posters who regard Bris supporters as fickle, why would you go to game after game, I am really regretting getting a season ticket this year, we are somehow stupid to expect our team to improve on last year.so how many years do you have to put up with bullshit like blooding kids.
I have to say I wasn't even disappointed today, it was totally expected.
I did have a big night last night which made that game even less attractive, no beers.
I would not disagree, but I wouldn't call them mugs - I'd call them talented kids who are low on confidence.

I particulrly look forward to "TheBrownDog Lite" again, because I've only seen it twice - and I know that your copy/paste function works all season long.
Whether it's Spain or China you reference, it certainly looks like you've spent a lot of time reading about past events. Congratulations!
Bit slow there Tairy Greene, I've already told him to mention Hawksley.Don't forget to ask him about James Hawksley!
I like "TheBrownDog Lite" too. Apt.
fair call... but many resting on their own hype in my views. Johnson was always trying to make things happen and used much the way Rich is now as a gap filler for others poor performances
Always liked Johnstone. The people's homeless guy.
Silky skills. No defensive game though and refused to run. Voss eventually saw it my way.Don't you mean Travis Johnstone?
Hawksley gave him a run.
Can you remember him running hard to present an option, chase, lay a tackle or apply a shepherd? He did have silky skills though.I remember travis hitting targets inside 50... arr memories

Look I know it's pick 1 etc but It pains me knowing that we got the wooden spoon, I wish the boys fought hard just like how Poort in 2011 round 23 to avoid the spoon.Draft pick 1.
Stay the course.

If we don't beat Carlton or GC, I struggle to see how we can win another game.
And I would have the Saints beating us at the Gabba if we keep doing these ******* performances.
No money, dwindling crowds, memberships, homesickness, academies, no retention etc....(Jeez I named a few)
We will never ******* dig ourselves out of this mess
there will become a point in time where the AFL gets tired of throwing money into the black hole known as the lions
Ageed, club to fold/merge within 3 years still a possibilitythere will become a point in time where the AFL gets tired of throwing money into the black hole known as the lions

I reckon what Robbo said was spot on when he he claimed that opposition teams thought we were walkovers. We absolutly are, a team to get them into form.
Don't quite get how he's the president of a club and at the same time is allowed free reign as a 'footy expert' to say whatever he likes. If you are that involved in a club your business should be the club only.Eddie Mcguire on triple m this morning "brisbane lions new name is Owen........... Owen 16 million." Pure class by that man

I just don't get how you be saying "it's not panic times for the Queensland teams ect ect" then just say "Owen 16 million" and laugh.
Just thought it was a bit shit by him but whatever I guess
Lmao can you imagine if they merged the merger team?
