Autopsy Round 4, 2025: Positives and Negatives vs GWS

I watched about 3 and a bit quarters must admit the last quarter was too much but there was effort besides a few known offenders

It’s the list that is not afl standard

I know it's unfair to lump so much blame on a single player...

But Gross, Hall and Reid are showing really promising signs, and we really need a mature-body midfielder to step up and be the leader for these young guys to rally around. Instead we have Kelly, who is absolutely cooked. An 18yo Tom Gross kicks 1.1 and gets 17 disposals with 5 clearances on debut, while Clay Halls kicks 0.1 and has 18 disposals with 5 clearances in his 5th game. Both had around 70% gametime.

Meanwhile Kelly gets 14 possessions from 85% gametime.

He really needs to be dropped.
31 and out of contract. he has talked about his passion for the game being lost at times and atm playing with non. He should really start to think about retirement now.

That being said I get the sense Tk is a front runner and if a decent side comes knocking he might start to wind back the clock

Ugh, every single time I see a panel of Vic flogs on one of the 100 dickhead unnecessary footy shows out there I just know they aren't going to be saying anything with hearing.

We're shit. We get it. We're rebuilding, our list is rubbish and we've got senior flogs who are phoning it in or legit planning on bailing.... One of them being our shit captain. Move the **** on.

Talk about media flogging a dead horse. Harley gave them nothing this week so they'll just take potshots at something else. First it's Reid, then it's Allen gate, now it's "wow WCE are shit".

Just building the narrative for the next 'Harley's coming home' story

Surprised we didn’t get a “Harley wasn’t his usual combative self this week and started no fights. Clearly hates it at the Eagles as they are taking his natural game away from him. What do Hawthorn have to pay to get him home?”
“Harley has clearly lifted his performance in an effort to put himself on the shelf, to try to entice Victorian clubs to get him home to Victoria ASAP”

Engie stadium is a nice little ground. Buy a ticket, sit wherever the hell you want :D. If the sun hits you just go sit out of it. A nice journey to the stadium too on the ferry. I was sat next to Tom Gross family and friends who went apeshit when he got that goal :D . We should expect a hanger by the sounds of it cos they were convinced that we needed to kick the ball on top his head so he could take a speccy . They were all thrilled he got to Eagles and wanted him to go to us over any other club because they thought we would give him the chances to play right away... which well we have

I cant get over how bad Noah Long was. 3 times he ran of Whitfield to mark someone else who was behind the contest. Two times it was Callan Ward and the the other time it was Conor Idun. You need to have the smarts to know you need to cover Whitfield before those 2.

Duggans first 10 mins on Jones was a disgrace. Gave up chasing him 3 times in that 10 minutes. He knew Jones was quicker which seemed to be a excuse for him to not try in his own tiny mind. Needs a spell in the WAFL. Oscar Allen is in for a rough year. If GWS fans were giving it to him I can only imagine what it will be like everywhere else

Even though we lost by 80 pts it was a big step in the right direction. Now Mini just needs to have the courage to take the next step....

They do this to all clubs down the bottom though. With us, there's an edge of glee. It's like they're completely surprised that every year, two to four teams are diabolical and down the bottom of the ladder.

I watched the game for the first time last night. Sandy Brock really impressed me. Hit the contest hard. Kicking was very good. I think he made one or 2 mistakes. But I dont think many full backs were going to stop Jesse Hogan. His hands were sublime. I think Sandy and Gov will make a nice combo. Sandy showed more than Harry Edwards. Not bagging Harry. If Sandy get a few more kg's he will be a legit FB. Found a good one there.

What exactly was wrong with what was said though?
I get we hate Victorians etc etc but everything they said was true.

We were witches hats training drill at times.
Free space.
Not much Brock could do on debut.
Needed help etc etc.

Most other teams Brock debuts they would've had a third man up at every context that Brock was a part of.

It's just where we are at and only experience will help Brock, he's got the talent

As to the rest of it it's damning that Duggan says he can't question the effort but they played their system better. We look like we do t have a system and when they are playing theirs he loses interest in manning up and doing his job as captain and defender.

He needs to hit the gym. Like Hogans a gun and big KPP but the size difference between the two was huge
Well, Hogan has played at more AFL clubs than Brock has played AFL games.
There is a stark difference in age, experience and size.
Brock was at least in the contests and took 5 marks of his own with a dozen disposals, not too bad for a first gamer against one of the best key forwards in the league. He's going to be ok I think.

totally, give him a bit of time to develop into a proper KD option, been at the club a few months training and hoping for a lifeline.
Looks to have plenty of talent and ability, put on a bit of size, learn your positioning, get some games into him and I think we have unearthed a ripper!

Statistically Brock was rated as the third best eagle on the field by Champion Data, behind Maric and Baker.

Maric scabbed 8 kick in play ons and it's always annoyed me that's given as a free disposal (Hence Hurn's career best numbers when it was brought in), so take him out for arguments sake and Brock is the 2nd best.

Brock had 9 intercepts (most for WCE), 7 rebound 50's (2nd most), 5 marks (most for WCE) and looked comfortable when he wasn't left one out defending against the Coleman medalist as their midfield walked the ball into the forward 50.

Definitely have something to work with. Doesn't get any easy for him though, one Coleman medalist to another.

Would be nicer if he was playing as 2nd tall rather than our full back but such is Fyfe 🤷🏼

No better way to develop imo. Look at Mackenzie and Schofield when they were thrown into it. He’ll be right

All I said in that post was that he needs to hit the gym. No other criticism.

I'm a little late to the party but it's time we get the tissues out because there's going to be some hurt feelings.

Tom Cole GTFO of the team and into the Beagles and build some form and lead/mentor some kids. It's been years since he has played an above average game and unfortunately someone has to make way for HJ and Grego and any of the other youth.

Our top 3 players for average pressure acts per game are.... Jack Graham (#3 AFL), Liam Baker (#29) and Matt Owies (#32)....

Tom Cole is #210

I'd keep Duggo in the team doing Cole's current role before dropping the Captain.

If Cripps hadn't been accurate in his kicking he would be at risk as well

210 isn't that bad out of 493 players.
