The other interesting issue was the vid put up on BF of Twomey and co's Top 25 players in the game I presume weighted with this year's performances.

No McCluggage. Some of the other names there haven't set the world on fire.

We definitely fly under the radar and always have. I'm OK with it but it is frustrating sometimes.
I saw a thing today where the top 25 players under 25 was released. Ashcroft is #18, Sam Darcy #21. Harley Reid is at 16, Sheezel is at 9, Sam Walsh is #12 despite not having any real impact in recent times.

100%. Makes far more sense than McLachlan sub. Need someone with more versatility as sub.

This is not me having a go at you briz but the whole metres gained stat is so widely misused in AFL media.

Lachie gets the clearance, handballs backwards to an incoming Zorko who then pumps it 50m+. Repeat this multiple times over the game and only one of those two has significant metres gained.

The other issue with metres gained is the hack dump kicks, that at times leads to turnovers or bad positioning of the football.

Yet you have people give Washy crap for his little 1-2 handball gets/receives, despite the fact that often it's a useful tactic to advance the ball in a safer movement pattern than dump kicking. He used this perfectly in the Grand Final that got him a Norm smith.

Luckily for us the coaches have a better understanding of these metrics than the common folk & AFL pundits.
