The fact Giro and Crowden are being named as players to come in just shows the lack of depth at Freo.

I'm still astonished we gave Giro a two year extension and guaranteed main list upgrade.

It's time for Cerra to move into the midfield ,he had 23 disposals and a af rating of 102. He has hit form,i was watching him closely and he reminds me of Pendlebury with the time and space he finds and never wastes his kick or handball. He should be at the coalface, he's been wasted in defence.

Agree with this. I watched the game on Saturday and thought it's no wonder we were so bad last year having to rely on Crowden and Giro so much. This year we have not had to play them yet, but the fact they are "next up" says a lot about where we are. Hopefully Blakely, Hill and Logue get back soon, and hopefully North steps up and proves to be AFL quality. Sam Switkowski will definitely improve us when he comes back in, and I know this won't be a popular opinion but I think Balls' experience has been sorely missed in the forward line from an organisational aspect.

We are still shallow, but definitely not as bad as last year and hopefully the cavalry is on the horizon.

You gotta love some of the vitriol coming out of the yellow's mouthes over on their board, "This is Freo's Grand Final", "Those purple pansies think they're good because they're in the top 4", honestly they seem to enjoy over exaggerating opinions that this board has. We'll likely get beaten but it's funny how much time they seem to spend looking at this board to overanalyse everything we say.

Agree x 100. One of the classiest users I have seen at Freo. His delivery inside 50 would improve us considerably.

Wilson needs to find some form. His drop off is being covered by Cerra and Ryan at the moment.

Agree. Yesterday however was a change in role for him, I think Duman took his place (wherever he was) and allowed him to move up the ground more.

Unchanged for me.
But in saying that...
Does Nyhious have a matchup down back?

Banfield OUT - Giro/Sturt IN
or if Fyfe OUT inj - Giro/Sturt IN

If Banfield is dropped I reckon Colyer can be used as a tagging option. When we played the Bombers in Round 18 last year he played on Ed Langdon who was in hot form against Port Adelaide the previous week, and Colyer shut him down to a handful of possessions.

Playing the in-form reigning premiers plus:

- No Fyfe
- 6-day break
- Just played an exhausting, bruising encounter

This could get really, really ugly.

I'll be hoping for a competitive match where we aren't completely humiliated and deflated for the next month. That's pretty much anything under 40 points for me.

He's one of you. Also, piss off.

Don't think he has the tank yet to do that every week. we need to remind ourselves that he's still only a second year player and probably a year or two away from consistency

Banfield was atrocious for mine, everytime he went near it you could tell he did not want it and just took the easiest option available to him more often than not putting that player under more pressure - but hey as long as the pressure is not yours mate.

Probably confidence related and I know he picked up last qtr but I can't excuse that from him... not yet.

Someone has to run with Yeo, I would give Hughes a job to do and he seems the perfect match up. With Fyfe unavailable who else do we have with size? You can not expect North to come in to debut in a Derby?
Nyhius to replace Hughes in the back line.

I hope Fyfe doesn't play. Just not worth the risk with head injuries.

I'd put Brayshaw on Gaff. If he manages to get into his head it will do wonders for his confidence. He was playing exceptionally well on him in that last derby - which is why Gagf got frustrated and became a thug.

Bring Banfield into the midfield. I'd have him niggle at Yeo personally. Yeo hates the physical attention from what I have seen. I'd get Conca niggling Shuey early. Mundy and Walters will need to play plenty in the midfield. Tucker, BHill, Langdon, Cerra all in the rotation. Colyer to the forward line alongside Matera given Switkowski's not available yet :(

They'll be expecting this will be a cake walk with Fyfe out. I really hope our players step up for their Captain and for Brayshaw and make WC earn every possession the hard way.

I'd bring in Nyhuis (without dropping any of Wilson/Hughes/Duman) if it means both Conca and Cerra can play midfield.

I don't think debuting North for a derby is smart. Nor do I think Crowden or Giro give us what we need with Fyfe out. The cupboard is pretty bare given our injury list.

yes, someone will get off the chain for them, but Lobb played his best game for us yesterday. He'll be a handful for Vardy, and could give us a bit of an advantage at times. Hopefully Jesse does the same, and plays his best game for us !!

Wilson is so clearly injured it’s not funny. Some sort of abdominal or groin strain. Doesn’t seem right.

Thunderstorms predicted.

So for me that means either Darcy doesn't play or we have to drop one of the three talls.
That’s good for us. Forces a close game, west coast’s aerial threat across the back goes. I’d rather a wet slog fest tbh. Their soft as butter Gaff won’t like it one bit. I’d welcome the rain.

Banfield, Langdon, Brayshaw, Hughes need to be cleaner with the ball. If they can't then we need to transition them out the side. McCarthy's disposal was awful but happy to give him a free pass as that is usually his strong point.

If he's not injured Wilson needs a rocket up his arse.
