His intercept possessions come from him standing a kick off the ball when we lock the ball in our forward line and the hack kicks go to his chest for an uncontested mark, which is exactly what happened against Carlton and Port.

Just to throw it out there

Positioning for an intercept is not only still an intercept, it’s technically a skill in and of itself

What i find hilarious is how the "expert commentators" all found it mystifying that Moore was not tagging Curnow, and that Curnow would slice us apart due to this incredible coaching error.

What was the fall out? Curnow kicks 1 goal, and Frampers blanketed him. Moore was able to range freely as a result.

Give Frampers one single role to carry out, without any additional complications, and he does it.

Others have mentioned this.

I just wanted to record my agreement.

Billy is going to be very important for us this year. Feel sorry for Reef, but when a door closes, another opens.

The door for Reef has not closed.
He will be retained for next year.
Frampers is 29, and Reef will turn 23 in December.
It’s closed for this year, and that all that matters right now.

"Closing doors" suggest permanency.
All i am saying is that the closure of the door is not permanent.
I clarified what I meant.
Focus is on this year.

Carlton’s issue isn’t dissimilar to Melbourne’s, they’ve built a game around contest and defence, while the game has moved in the direction of turnover and transition. They’re just outdated.
They are different the way I see it.
What has really hurt Melbourne is the loss of Jordan, Harmes and Neil Bullen.
They were their 3 best defensive runners, those 3 meant Trac Oliver and Viney could afford to be more attacking mids.
They get burnt on turnover and don’t have the right personnel to flood back and pressure.

Friggen’ bizarre that anybody would even think to take guns into the ground? It’s hardly a place that is discreet and would support a quick getaway.

Is only me who is curious about whether they were Collingwood supporters? Or Carlton supporters? Or one of each?
I once drove into the G in a Sherman Tank.
Luckily security didn't notice.

Fly's presser

Great second half from your team, you would have been aware of Carlton's second half fadeouts in the last few weeks. Was that fed to your players at half time and did you lean into that?
"Yeah, we did. We mentioned that our second halves have been reasonably strong and there's it's only a small sample size but you sort of reach into those things if you think there's opportunities there just to give belief potentially of what we have been doing. Again it's not quite a pattern yet but we did step into that".
How impressed were you with the cleanliness around the footy especially in the second half?
"There's times as a coach you think it's quite wet and blustery so really tricky conditions. I'm not sure what it presented on TV, but I know watching at times it was a really dour struggle. There's times where as a coach you're going 'oh, come on we can just stop overplaying the ball and get the ball going' because it's really hard to handle the ball let alone mark it. There's times where I sort of go we could have done things a little bit different but I'm just trying to steer away from these players decision making. Let them make decisions and let them play the game how they want it to be played".
You fielded the oldest team of all time tonight and you won really well. Is that a nice sense of validation?
"All time is it now? Do we get like a birthday for that? We don't have to bring our passports to start the game to show our age. You guys keep adding the numbers up and we'll keep banking on our experience".
Is it a good validation that age is a number isn't it?
"We don't put ceilings on things. I'm going to keep repeating it and it might come up every week. If we have a bad loss, 'oh you're too old' and if you have a good win 'oh, you've got great experience'. The list is our list for the year unless we recruit some three-year-olds in the mid-season draft. But I think this is the reality of what we’ve got and we back in our experience. It gives us great opportunities at times".
How valuable is that footy IQ [experience] when it comes to games like that?
"I said this pre-game, how has the experience helped you. it’s incredible during the week how it helps us. At training we’ve got unbelievably elite standards from so many of our core players and then that feeds down to some of our developing players. Then you have training where you go 'can you just set this up' and our players take ownership of that. They know the game plan inside out. Those things definitely help and then when there’s the heat and pressure of a game, you manage moments well".
Did you feel like you simplified it a little bit after half time, with pressure obviously being emphasised but with how you used the footy?
"Yeah, we went pretty hard on the tape at half time. We didn’t like the way we were defending the ground. It was a nil all draw really in the second quarter. No one could score. Defences were really strong and it was tricky conditions as I said. We didn't like where we were putting our bodies and showed some footage around that and then we got a bit of reward in the third quarter. I think we kicked 4.6, but 17 inside 50s to 7 was an example of dominating the territory in that quarter".
What are your thoughts on Darcy Cameron's performance, especially after half time?
"He’s just stepping up every week. That’s a tough opponent. De Koning is one of the best in the competition. Darcy just keeps delivering for us. If he's not marking the ball, he's competing in different ways. He puts his body where we need him at times defensively. He's playing big minutes. We sort of chop him out in some areas, but he's playing big minutes compared to what he was last year and the year before. He plays his 100th game next week, so we'll celebrate that one".
Lachie Schultz has obviously been highlighted a few times since he's arrived, but tonight was one of the better games he's played for the club wasn't it?
"Yeah, it was a lucky type of night wasn't it. It was slippery and messy and you just watch the chase. He chases 150 metres and just doesn't quite get there but he never gives up. You saw the reaction of our players when he got the award tonight and what he means to our group. We love what he does for us.
Schultz was really central to that third quarter when the game was up for grabs.
Yeah, he’s putting his body on the line regularly, gets his body in good position and he got rewarded on the scoreboard, and got us going at really important times.
I assume you saw the Dan Houston bump on Lachie Fogarty?
"No, I did hear in there but I haven't seen it. I can't comment [as] I'll be saying things that I've got no comment on. I hope the young lad is okay, Fogarty was it? Yeah, so our hopes are that he's okay and he has no real effects from that contest, but no I haven't seen it to comment".
Pendlebury and Sidebottom were so influential again and remarkable given their longevity and age. You've been around footy a long time to see how influential they are.
"Yeah, again we don't put ceilings on things. You should see the way these guys are preparing and the energy they have for making us all better. It's not just them, what about Howie? I thought Brody Mihocek's contest was huge tonight, you know to put his body on the line so many times in critical moments and didn't get rewarded on the scoreboard but we see the things he's doing for us to make us better. No ceilings here".
With Mihocek, McStay and Membrey. How do you see those three working together?
"I think the chemistry is a work in progress. No one was really marking the ball. Our backs intercepted the ball well. Darcy Moore and Bruzzy intercepted the ball well, but no one was really making the balls. It was a tough night for the forwards, but I think the chemistry and their positioning was important. I don’t know if we’re going to look the same all the time. I’ve been deliberate in saying that. I think we’ll make some subtle changes, depending on who we play and where we play and we may see that in coming weeks".
Jordan De Goey was subbed at 3QT. Was that something you were planning coming into tonight?
"Yeah, we had a bit of a plan around Jordy and a couple of others albeit what the game was giving us. We just thought it was an opportune time. He had a good impact. He's a work in progress, Jordy. We haven't sort of got him in full wheels and motion yet so we saw an opportune time. We got Ned Long [who was the sub]. How is he the sub? He's been so brilliant. He comes on, he has 7 or 8 possessions, 20 pressure points and kicks a goal. I don't think he'll be sub next week".
You've got a couple of weeks on the road to come with Gather Round and then up to Brisbane for Easter Thursday. Is that a chance for the players to get away as a group travelling away from Melbourne for a week or so?
"We're going to Adelaide I think on Wednesday. Train over there, so all our Collingwood supporters get over there. Adelaide is a great place to visit. Good place to drive over, I drive over every Christmas time. Love the place. I have all my mates there and my mum; hey mum how you're going? Love Adelaide, so get there to see us. We'll be going over there on Wednesday and we'll stay there for a couple of days and we play on Friday obviously and then we'll fly straight to Brisbane. We'll be away from home for a little bit".
Any injuries tonight?
"No, I think we're good at the moment. Pretty good at the moment".

Classic line :

"The list is our list for the year unless we recruit some three-year-olds in the mid-season draft."

😆 😆 Fly's sounding like he's getting fed up with talking about the age thing at every presser.

to be fair I thought he had the better of Macrae until half time. They consistently used the corridor and went short out of D50 to free up a man and than overlap. I lost count of the times they went left from full back to the flank and then switched to CHB and the far wing and ran through in 2s and 3s. They clearly had a plan which worked for a while.

I don't rate Voss but he wasn't the reason last night imo. When they get tired their skills are atrocious which is partly why they have been smacked every game after half time.

Fly made mention of the Blues corridor use in his presser. Essentially said that's all they try and do. In a roundabout way amongst other things he was saying that his mate Vossy is a bog average coach.

Once we dialled our pressure up, they were cooked.

Also, DC gave TDK a bath in the 3rd quarter. Off to Moorabbin son.

Thought the game was boring as.
Just a real dour slow affair.
Both teams looked slow.
I know was a few showers but really not much of a game.
Not much in way of skills on display either.
But ill take the win and the 4 points and onto the swans.

It pissed down for a lot of it and was windy AF. We put the foot down when needed and won with ease. Happy days.

We can't play him on the number 1 forward because he struggles.

His intercepts are from opponents in their defensive 50 bombing it to the center square and he marks it uncontested. You look at stats not the actual games, no one who watches the footy would say Moore has had a good year or has been intercepting a lot.

Moore played very well on Thursday. Get that chip off your shoulder.

Is there a new rule that if you position to intercept and then intercept the opposition get the ball back?
Technically an interception, but we all know that marking a ball as part of our "wall" to lock it in the forward line is a lot different to cutting one off in a position where if the opposition marks it, they have a set shot. The closest 3 players are usually your own team mates.

I do give Darcy credit for how he set up though. "Craig, let's bring Billy in to play on the tall man. He interferes with my spirituality and I cant be as present which hurts my concentration and equilibrium.. but I might see if I can get to a few contests and help punch the ball and I'll make sure my knees aren't dirty at 3 quarter time.. Oh and tell the other Darcy he has to come back and cut off some of their forward entries because I'll be making sure our 6 6 6 is on point and that Brayden doesn't punch anyone"
