I am struggling with the ‘elite’ scale here. I would put the measure between Nick and Josh. I love Josh’s bu wouldn’t call him elite, Nick clearly is so for sake of regiment I’d say elite is between those 2.
TDK has reached an elite level this year, very good before that, but was beaten by our ruckman, AA quality for sure but probably not elite.
So TDK has a way to go.
Weitering is a yes.
Cripps a yes.
Elite players don’t go missing for large periods of time so that’s it for me. Elite can’t be ,ensured by potential.
Newman possibly unlucky, he’s a very very good player but hit by injury.

You’d sell the farm for an elite player, not counting St Blunda obviously because it’s nearing midnight and the bands about to pack up and they still haven’t picked up, I don’t see a lot on their list you would, or would have, sold the farm for.

Is AA quality not elite? That indicates you’re in the top handful of players at your position

He’s not elite and never will be in my opinion. He’s improved into a good player though.

Talking about Silvagni? I like him, he’s honest and hard working, and about the only Carlton player who looks interested and committed ATM.

Cripps has held his end up over many years. But now he’s starting to look like Petracca. Fed up with the crap his club produces. Terrible situations for these champions to be in.

It’s just a definitional thing, how small or slightly larger you define the group and is also highly subjective. I tend to go with extreme high level of high standard - Pendles, Daicos, or, game changers when the heat it on - Degoey. I think we have 5, with Daics X2, Moore, Degoey and Houston. On another defition, I could see just Naicous being defined as elite. Usually all Australian I define as elite or anyone clearly in the top 50.

I was filthy at him in the first half last night (what was said in the match thread was half of what I was saying in person during the match and a lot nicer) after a season and a half of fairly garbage footy from him and can't believe nothings really been said. David King after the game nervously told him that was his best game for a while, and you could tell by Moore's face that it felt like a back handed one.

I have never really laid into any player in nearly 2 decades here but he has been absolutely shitting me. When I say him jogging in the first quarter and watching Elliot come from the forward 50, sprint past him and lay a tackle in our backline I nearly threw a can at the TV

Darcy Moore played really well on Thursday night.

This is divorced from reality

Silvagni is nowhere near elite. He is a trier, but FMD, his career has been the very definition of mediocre. At the start of his tenth season he is on 119 games. The only elite thing about him has been his ability to stay on the list.

His spiritless teammates are making him look good.

Agree that Silvagni is nowhere near elite, but l give him full credit as he tries his guts out and gives his all every game. That is more than can be said for many of their better credentialled players.

No need to be overly nice giving "full credit" 😡👹 to Carlton players
