How do you guys think the excers will go? We won't be booing it's just not what our crowds do. My Thoughts:-

1. Matt De Boer is too much of a professional to let it get to him. He'll do his job as he would against any other team. Then probably socialise with his old mates after the game.

2. Cam McCarthy has been gone a while and was always popular with the playing group. Doubt He'll cop much sledging and go about his business.

3. Nathan Wilson is the the interesting one I think. Again I don't think He'll cop much other than the normal in game banter. Everyone understands why he left. Regrettable but understandable.

It's a bit unusual he's up again st his old club and mates so quickly, and I think as an important player though. Could go either way in my view. Maybe he'll be a bit put off. Maybe he'll relish the chance to show the guys he used to train with he can beat them under matchday pressure.
I don't think there'll be any ill will from either supporter base toward their ex players. Obviously on the field there'll be a bit of chat between ex teammates but that's to be expected. I don't think anyone left on bad terms (playing group wise); MDB got picked up after being delisted and we're all stoked he got picked up in a side that's contending and his value as a leader is appreciated; Cam Mac was dealing with mental health issues and wanted to get home to help him recover; Nathan Wilson wanted to get home to be around family because he and his partner were expecting and may have needed that extra bit of help.

Agreed. I think both of GWS’s supporters will act reasonably in this situation.

Cameron looked like he was going to be the next Carey and just never took the next step. Pretty disappointing. I think A Pearce will wear him like a glove on the weekend. Cameron to kick 1 goal.
How do you think you would go in your development if you were forced to stay away from AFL clubs for a full year while you battle depression and homesickness?

Clearly showing that he is closing in on that 2015 form.

Clearly GWS are the better team on paper, however, there is a winning formula available here. Fyfe and Sandilands will be our two most important (as per usual), and getting our team first use will be the biggest factor in whether we win. We are clearly favoured by large grounds with the current team set-up, but so are GWS. The open space will allow the skillful users to hit players in space, and we suddenly have many of this type of player.

The other key will be forward pressure. Play to our strengths, win the contested ball, get it forward, choke up the HFFs and keep it down our end.

If the game is played on their terms we'll get smashed, but Lyon is a great game day coach and will hopefully get this one right. Things will start to get exciting if we pull this one off.

he's talking about J Cameron not McCarthy.

Well I think it is pretty wishy washy to think ever thing is roses between the players and the clubs.

McCarthy was stuffed around by a club playing hard ball and ignoring his best interest. Wilson is a significant loss to a team primed for finals.

Where's the passion.

He's talking Jeremy Cameron

I know we got pumped by Port but that team contained Sutty, D Pearce and Kersten and all three had nil impact. It was an unbalanced team and it showed - Kersten and Cam Mac in the same forward line just doesn't work.

The change in personnel over the last two weeks has seen a massive change in our pressure around the ball. Our defense that looked brittle in round 1 now looks confident and solid. Our form has been good and confidence is a marvelous thing.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a Fyfe masterclass and us getting the choccies (provided Danyle Pearce doesn't play ).

Good point but we still have MJ who struggled down back, and our midfield was largely towelled up other than Neale, and again this is a risk. Need Fyfe and co to stand up this week.

Yeah your pessimism is quite a theme through these threads.

Bennell is cooked, Freo are going to get pumped, etc.
1. Bennell has hardly played in the last 3 years so a fair call I’d say
2. Is it not fair to be worried we will get pumped against the premiership favourites ?

1. Harley has hardly played in the past 2 years, before that he had 15 games in 2013, 14 and 15
2. Why would you bother being worried about a potential outcome

Harley is close to gone.

Anyway really excited about this game. I don't think it will be a flogging but a good test to see where we are at. Unfortunately it is a ground bHill would have a blinder.

The guys having so much confidence in the behemoth Sandilands gets me excited. Good feel around the club

yeah fixed it and put 3, man I hope he comes good as I highly rate him, would be disappointing if he doesnt even manage 50 games for us. Worried was probably the wrong word use, i just love my footy, I’ve had a crap week, just want something good to come out of it so I hope we really put up a fight. I don’t have a “pessimism theme” as said above, I’ve literally only said two hardly negative things and been called out for it.

Hope things get better for you, starting with a win tomorrow.

I reckon the last couple of times we’ve played them Lyon has clearly out coached Leon Cameron
Albeit for a loss , but given the personnel that was understandable
I’m looking for an interesting coaching battle today
