VFL Game Day Round 4: Port Melbourne vs Essendon, North Port Oval, Sunday 17/04/22 @ 2:10 PM

Two of the four winless sides of the VFL meet this week, both sides eager to get their first win on the board, in front of what will no doubt be a desperate North port crowd. The Borough have held the wood over Essendon so far in their history, and have won 3 of the last 5 games against the Dons, but both of those losses were at the home of VFL football in North Port.

Port had a tough loss to Sydney last game, the Swans gaining a lead halfway through the third quarter and Port never quite being able to grab it back despite being close the entire way through, the margin never getting beyond 3 goals. Cody Szust was the only multiple goal scorer, whilst stalwart Eli Templetn had 32 disposals and a goal, ably assisted by former Coburg midfielder Marcus Lentini with 27 disposals and a goal.

Essendon's inability to stop Frankston kicking goals into the win was what ultimately cost them last week in the first ever VFL home and away game at The Hangar, the Dolphins kicking 9 goals into the wind compared to Essendon's 3. Aaron Francis put his name forward for a recall after kicking 3 goals up forward, whilst Garrett McDonagh had his best game for Essendon with 23 disposals coming out from defence.

Possible side:

FB: Cody Brand - Zach Reid - Garrett McDonagh
HB: Alastair Lord - Cian McBride - James Harrold
MF: Nik Cox - Joe Atley - Brayden Ham
HF: Josh Iaccobaccio - Harrison Jones - Tom Hird
FF: Josh Eyre - Kaine Baldwin - Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti
OB: Nick Bryan - Ben Hobbs - Sam Conforti
IC: Ben Jolley - Jacob Brown - Will Golds - Dylan Landt
23P: Jake Sutton

I think it'll be a close one, Port by 15.

I think it was the fact that we had our 3rd choice midfield playing and could not t

As soon as Jones is fit he is a walk up start to seniors.

His marking is Naughton like when he is second or third in line in a pack.
He'll play ANZAC day.

Two big pack marks to Jones

How old is he bonce? Don't mind the way goes about it. Will his VFL form translate to AFL though??
Not great when he was at Port from memory.
