Positive: Thanks to arse rather than class our percentage is still healthy.

Out played and out worked today. Couldn't get anything going, chasing guernsey's all day. Looked like they had 5 more players out there all game. A shadow of the team that played in Sydney.

Still don't understand the reasoning to pass off when you have a set shot from 35m.

"Yeah Essendon were really switched on early and we couldn't get our structures in place. Full credit to them."
Yep, the word “credit” will get used in the first answer or two.

This coach and group are impossible to trust. The more optimistic posters here, Janus and others, must have been watching a different team play than I have since 2014.

They'll win most of their games @ Etihad though.. bookmark it

I really dont think so. We were second to nearly every contest today. Same as last week - always 10 metres behind out opponents.

Lack of confidence and courage to take responsibility. Symptomatic of mental weakness.

Let’s be honest here, this team will never be anything until all those mentally weak older lads retire and we actually get some fresh legs who don’t have the confidence of a teenage boy on date night on the field... or will they just have the same mental demons passed onto them? Will we ever break this cycle of absolute mental frailty that seems to have stuck with us ever since 2014 EF loss?

My key takeouts:

Severe lack of run off half back. Houston very poor, replaced by Pittard ASAP. McKenzie playing as a lock down defender? Do not like. Surely we want the ball in his hands and using his cannon leg?

Polec’s lack of a right foot is frustratingly evident when we are playing poorly. There’s no excuse to not have some form of opposite leg when you’ve been in the system for this long.

Too much screwing around with our structures was evident. We looked our best in round one and haven’t played that same mix since. Baffling.

Rockliff needs to go back to the twos. We can’t keep carrying him. He’s been absolutely pathetic this year. Pathetic. Don’t defend him. He’s experienced enough and on enough coin that we can not except FOUR consecutive games of zero contribution.

Amon. Lol

So frustrating watching us play so poorly. Immediate thoughts are:

  • Trent McKenzie on Stringer was stupid.
  • Cale Hooker did a good job of injuring our forwards (illegally).
  • Umpiring wasn't great at times but that's not why we lost.

Piss poor from the boys today but maybe it's the reality check we need after barely getting over the line against Brisbane last week.
