now the saints.

Rucks. Capuano. Only 29 taps so far compared to halls 29 and Staffs 56. But will Staff get a holiday ?

fwds : Hayes. maybe Hammil will be back. Riewoldt.

backs : Hudghton. Plays OK. So does Koschitzke.

mids : A good set up. But so do Freo and the Doggies.

x-factor. Richmond are winning and Saints are coming away from a flogging.

and btw : richo coming back ; probably for king.

Don't forget Milne, he'll be fired up for a good game after a shocker against the Eagles on the weekend. Give Newman the first shot at Milne I reckon.

From all reports Newman negated any real opputunity for farmer and as they are similar types newman would be the most likely choice.

Newman on Milne sounds pretty reasonable.

If Richardson recovers to full fitness, then it should be a really good contest. I think if he fails to get to 100%, your avenues to goal may be stretched, as we have a pretty decent backline these days.

Rodan again shapes as your 'X-factor', I saw him vs the Bulldogs and watched the replay of the Dockers match, and I fully believe he is fundamental to your chances of cracking the eight this year.

Richmond are THE confidence team, and always has been. I think it's really up at the moment, and if Frawley can keep the morale high - no reason why he couldn't - then you'll find that the team plays so much better.

I'm picking the Saints based purely on what you see on paper, but if you guys can fire up, we'll be easy pickings.

Riewoldt's an interesting one if he plays up forward Gaspar would probably get him.
However he could cause a few headaches if he plays on the wing like he did against the crows two weeks ago where he caused them real problems. I'm not sure who the match-up would be if he was playing in the midfield, you could try Bowden but i'm not sure if he would be accountable enough. I'd try Hall but without Ottens he has to help out in the ruck more.

Id have Gas follow him , maybe Bowden , he's in top form ...riewoldt need to pay him plenty of respect and accountablity

From a Sainters point of view!

My prediction:

B: Lawrence Hudghton Peckett
HB: Aussie Penny Clarke
C: Ball Hayes Powell
HF: Hamill Riewoldt Black
F: Milne Gehrig Capuano
R: Koschitzke Harvey Dal-Santo
I: Thompson Montagna Baker Schwarze
E: Burke Wulf Goddard
IN: Dal-Santo Lawrence
OUT: Wulf Burke

Burke has missed 2 years of footy, and is showing it. Time for Burkie to recover that form in the VFL building back his confidence, fitness, and skill. For the club to go forward, decisions like this need to be made.
If Lawrence is availble, I would line him up on the tough little David Rodan. Try and push him around, bullie him, anything to put him off his game. Pace will beat Lawrence, so he must push him around and do his best to keep him away from crumming goals.
Wulf has the skill which he showed in the Springy practice match, but is too inconsistant. He must relise that he has to put in every week to earn a spot playing at AFL level. Welcome back Dal-Santo. This kid is a gun! Dal-Santo combined with Hayes, and Harvs will tear up the Tigers mid-field.
They'll feed off Kosie in the ruck and have the ball delivered straight down to Hamill/Gehrig/Riewoldt/Capuano with Milne licking his lips, hungry for the ball to hit the ground.
Schwarze - Life line.

Aussie and Clarke will clean up the back line. They must hit their targets in the mid-feild or hit Hamill or Riewoldt right on the ***.

Thompson will run off the bench interchanging with either Ball/Black/Powell (who ever is struggleing the most).
Monty will impress again, by sneaking onto a forward flank and booting another impressive goal.
Gehrig, once again will provide us a reliable target in the forward line, with stints running up the ground into the middle reaking havick at Colonial. He will once again impress these who wrongly doubted him during his season of injury (2002) by kicking 4 goals and taking 10 marks to lead the AFL in marks (currently 2nd).
Riewoldt will be Riewoldt - 3 goals.
Milne will be very hungry for goals to make up for last weeks dry spell - 5 goals.
Capuano will rotate with Koschitke in the ruck. Kosie will spend most of his time in the ruck as he is the better choice, while Capuano spends time on the bench, and provide height in the forward line.
Stewie Loewe will secretly knicks off into the St.Kilda club rooms after the game to sing the song after the Saints win by 24 points.

fair enough...he never got to sing it much as a player.

Play Koschitzke in the ruck by all means...but you still don't have anyone who could beat Stafford.

At least Stafford would think twice about trying to baulk Koschitzke off the mark!

Stafford will beat himself.

The guy has a brain, but whether or not he chooses to use it is yet to be established.

Just one thing everton, you have down at the bottom of your writing "Careers wrecked by Wayne Rooney.......Bobby Robson????" Are you serious, why he scored a goal in that game where we were absolutely robbed by that pr1ck of a ref? Cost us the season that game, dont worry Bobby will continue to do what he is doing for some more years and bring the silverware to St.James Park!!!

Anyway now onto the footy, Riewolt is the danger along with Milne.

Hamill - Zantuck
Riewolt - Gaspar
Milne - Newman
Gehrig - Kellaway

We have enough cover there, as with most games the game will be decided in the midfield, Hayes, Harvey, Ball and Powell, versus, Johnson, Campbell, Coughlan and Bowden, good contest if we play the same type of footy we did in our last quarter against the bullies and the four quarters against Fremantle we will win and win quite comfortably.

Our forward set up will be hard for there backs to contain and im tipping a fired up Richo to take full advantage of the unheralded but understrenght Saints backline. They will give the job of Richo to Penny, then Hudgeton, then Gehrig, then Kosi :D ;) Then of course there is Stafford, Rodan, hopefully Blumfield and our goalkicking midfielders.

My prediction with Richo: Richmond by 41 points

My prediction without Richo: Richmond by 24 points.

Should be a good game though.

The Richo factor: Max Hudghton will take him, if rubbed out for striking Chick, Gehrig will take him.

If, that's if ;) Richo gets his hands on the football, he will then need to kick straight.

My prediction is that Max takes him, and keep him to 2.4 which will not be enough.

Stafford would be the biggest threat to St.Kilda. But, Richmond need to get the ball off St.Kilda first to deliver it to him! ;) :D

Tigers midfield will take over.

With Richo, 24 points

Without Richo, 38 points.

Thing is when Richos down there they ALWAYS kick to him. As you saw on Sunday, who was the target up forward? No one.

Richo is a fantastic player and it probably wont make much difference on the scoreboard (except in the behinds department).

GO TIGERS!!!

What do you mean "without richo"?

Is there still some doubt in him playing?

What's the story with Jay Schultz? He's out for the week? Does he look like he'll be worth a fluke or two this season?

Ottens' smashed spine crashed my stats for the first half of the season (and longer). I'm shoe-horning Schultz in as a viable percentage maker. Not good?

I've got 68% for Richmond this week presuming Richardson is in, and Schultz is out.

Peace,

pretty even on paper.where we will win it is from the middle.while i admire harvey he is past his best and will find johnson more than a handful.is looking fwd to the hayes-coughlan match up it could go either way.
we have the luxury of having cambo and tivendale on the wings.stafford will be to strong in the ruck.
brought in vardy for insurance only[we have no choice] while sadly king,s afl days maybe over while pettifer still needs to get his head right.

tigers by 22 pts.

cheers!

For the ground time he had on the weekend i actually taught Pettifer did a good job, and should still be in the team this week. With the midfields being so even we need a player like Pettifer to contribute something to swing the balance in our favour, Vardy.....no thanks.

can see where ya coming from bob however 2 incidents last week from pettifer has convinced me he is not up to it at this stage and may never be.
he was recruited as a hlf/fwd yet missed a resonable easy shot for someone which is meant to be his bread and butter.

then about 5mins later the ball was in our fwd pocket and was kicked towards the top of the square.pettifer was all alone the ball was loose and instead of attacking the ball he stopped and waited for the freo player.the lad simply still has to earn his stripes.

on vardy all being equal he would be very lucky to be an emergency if all our talls were avail including schultz.as it stands he,s the only one available.like i said as insurance only.

cheers!

saints

saints in an early move dump Black ; capuano ; schwarze; wulf.

in : maybe brooks/knobel or both. Possibly Hammil ; Lawrence.

riewoldt and Black have a punch-up at training.

teams

richo , mills , vardy in...no omissions

saints bring in 7 : brooks, knobel goddard, hamill, lawrence, blake, maquire...omitted capuano, black, wulf, schwarze.

except Hamill, all on the bench .

Goddard will also be playing his first game. Replaced Black.
Hamill - defently in. Replaced Wulf in the side. Will play either HHF or CHF.
Knobel - most likely to play to replace gumby in the ruck
Lawrence - most likely replace Schwarze in defence.
