Yes.
The coaching tonight also deserves special attention. Not playing a hard running decent sized leading forward with decent hands (Corbett) was beyond belief. The ball was constantly bombed forward to Carltons Jones or on top of the heads undersized forwards like Sexton Ainsworth and Rankie.
Blind Freedy could see this coming and numerous posters here called it.
I'm very concerned with Dew.
Anybody see his presser yet, I am waiting to see what he has to say, I’m not against moving Dew on if change doesn’t come quickly as he has had a group of supremely Talented players for 3 years and frankly I don’t see how the likes of Ainsworth, 2MP, Brodie have reached anywhere near the potential they had coming into the draft.

He is contracted till the end of next season. Given this year is again just an injury shocker I’m ok with him having until the end of next season.
Today was the must win game for the top 8 dream and now that we have failed it’s time for development mode.
I won’t be impressed at all if he behaves like he did last year now and just sticks with the same blokes every week.
Time to rotate all the players and refine the list completely.

The problem is that if we are like this in 18 months, Rowell, Anderson, King, Rankine, Luko and more will be looking for the door. It has to come together this season IMO

edit: realistically with the talent we have on the list it should be happening now and either we have picked the wrong players ( unlikely) or we have not developed them and drilled them in a game plan that is not this bang / crash turnover ball we play at the moment. The number of times we banged it on the boot to a waiting Carlton play 40m down field was infuriating and just plain dumb football

does anyone know who our forward coach is? i feel the main problem here is the leads were pathetic half hearted and indecisive. several times these kicks ended up going straight to the opposition is because a player would make a half lead and then pull out leaving the kicker either unable or unwilling to adjust his kick accordingly.
You Bloody well commit to a lead even if your not going to get the ball as it creates space behind you for a team mate.

All these rules that allow clubs to move the ball on fast, and beat opposition zones and we play chip to chip, allowing opposition to set up 18 players in front of us and then say we butchered the footy because we can't crack it. We were far too predictable. Nathan Buckley said you can't be 1-3 and sit on your hands, take heed of that. Let's just get the ball moving forward, let's kick 15 goals a game, if they kick 25 then so be it, but we're not going to beat teams averaging 75 points a game.

Finally saw Dews presser, measured and calm as usual but clearly disappointed. He talked about belief within the group and the players working the game plan. I can’t decide if he is correct and we are about to finally break out or if he is totally delusional.
Watching the game live we were terrible, if there was a game plan I couldn’t see it,

Carlton should of put us to the sword and maybe it would of been better if they did so the wound would be exposed

I’m torn too.. the fact that we’ve been in every game, says we have improved.
But watching the way we played, I don’t see it.

We will be 1-4 in a weeks time. This means It’s close to certain that last night will be our only MINI GF this year and we were insipid in that last quarter except right at the death.

What a complete poo sandwich. Another friggin development year.

Why would you move Luko up forward when he has easily been our most damaging kick coming out of defence / wing? Then were left with guys just kicking long to our undersized fwd line with no ruck to help create a contest up forward either.

If they left Luko down back and played Corbett we would have won imho. I Would replace Darcy with Corbett, not like for like.... but Darcys disposal is awful, and its not like we have any balance in the team anyway.

A few times last night we had long kicks going to Darcy in a 1 on 1 and I couldn't help think that that should be Corbett.

Like most supporters frustration is a common word we use when watching the Suns .
Again we had chances but blew them with poor turnovers and choices.
Very annoyed watching the last ten minutes, we were a goal or two down but continued playing slow motion football, kicking wide to players who were covered or hitting the boundary line , no dare in our play.
We are undersized strength and height wise so why we play this slow motion football makes no sense.
Have to say hate watching this style of game , prefer to lose playing more attacking football than this defensive rubbish.
Collingwood and Brisbane play the same way and look how there going.
The modern game is about scoring more often.
Some POINTS from the game.
Holman and Harbrow subs or nothing .
Leadership on and off the ground is lacking ; Jack Lukosius Jack Bowes Izac Rankine all gifted players all have had good moments
but continue to make same mistakes week in week out.
Lukosius beautiful kick of a football is missing more targets than he is hitting : WHY
Bowes twice in two weeks caught close to goal by not choosing first option :result two vital goals : you should be learning from mistakes.
Rankine week in week out undisciplined acts costing us dearly ; should have been told strongly by now.
McPherson and Swallow getting plenty of football but disposal horrendous :not sure you can change that.
Sexton a good kick of the football marks the ball within kicking distance and then passes to Ellis no better position; simple didn't want the pressure .
Feel for Greenwood and Anderson busting their gut week in week out for no reward.
Honourable mention to Weller Ellis Collins Miller all Ok
Burgess and Graham were not disgraced in the ruck tried their best.
We don't have many option but Corbett must play to give the side at least another marking option.
Big challenges ahead for the whole club Coaches Players Staff and Supporters no easy games coming .
Cheers to all.

The reason Harbrow , MacPherson and Lemmons play is so we don't get hammered but they aren't good enough to win us games, at some stage we have to pull the trigger and replace them. Was at the game last night and near MacPherson when he did that powder puff kick in the last quarter and the whole crowd groaned. How a small forward can keep his place when he has kicked 25 goals in 56 games , that's like a specialist batsman averaging 13

I’m with nobbys I don’t care if it’s not a like for like replacement we need to bring in Corbett for Darcy and see how it plays out.
I was once a fan of Darcy but he’s now awful.
I said it already and I said it again , if Corbett make his way in ,make sure he is not the scapegoat like Brodie , Players need to play together to know each other move.
One of the weakness Dew have is make reserve players felt unwelcome after two to three games .

Great write up.
That last 15 minutes infuriated me. We were playing like we were protecting a 2-3 goal lead instead of trying to win it. Is this a case of the game plan not being flexible at all, even if the situation requires it? The new rules are made for taking the game on. If it’s because of fatigue then the game plan might just be too taxing. Remember we gave away Lyons because he didn’t run the other way like Dew wanted. He’s an A grader in a top team.
Lack of leadership like you mentioned is evident.
Great culture being built sure but you still need a bit of toughness & leadership out there.
Players that tow the game plan line are played despite their inability to hit targets.
Elite junior talent is being shackled to the draining game plan we have. Watch Benny’s first year as an 18 yo small forward. He’s now a hit up small dishing off handballs too far up the ground and looks genuinely lost. Izak’s first 5 games were dynamite. He now looks a shadow of that player.
Dew has done a great job to get us back from a train wreck. I just hope we change up our style when we can. Nicks out coached him last week taking away that slow switch down back. Teague the same.
Corbett has to play like you said.

That's absolutely what happened and it's on the coaches big time. Just terrible from the coaches box last night. And many here called it during the week and these blokes are on hundreds of thousands of dollars a year and just let it happen.

Lack of size, strength, power, speed, precision and purpose.

And on dew, who else is out there to coach?

Tapping from Brisbane maybe?

I think he was a former vfl coach of the year.

He might be a seasoned, experienced coach/manager with a modern and intelligent methodology.

you don’t need to be a superstar ex player, just have a brain in your head.

We lack structure and you can't go into a game without a 200 cm ruckman these days, King has to go in there unfortunately. Also Rosa was chosen in front of a couple other highly rated academy prospects , it's time to throw him in there

BTW who is responsible for knocking Ben Keys back because l know for a fact he wanted to come to us and our Club said no thanks.
keays was the best footballer in Qld in his age group, just got kicked out by Cameron and some other good small forwards. Think Qld players have the same natural talent as the other states but for some reason can't get that extra 10 percent to be an AFL regular up here.
