my first votes for the season as ive been away (really ever actually as i only joined Big Footy after the end of out season last year)

POTY

5- Riccuito- had a lot of the ball but felt he burnt it a lot too, just blazed away when he kicked to our forwards allowing the saints to get numbers back and run it out, but still a top performance

4- McLeod- been overseas for the 1st 3 games and from what ive heard wasnt playing to well, played well and i thought he was creative off the HBF which perhaps is where he might stay for a while and get some confidence back in his footy.

3- Burton- yes, he isnt the best at disposing the ball and doesnt always make the greatest decisions but think he will eventually get there and tonight i thought played well and just the weight of numbers earned him 3.

2- McGregor- thought started well up forward, then went down back and did an admirable job on Riewoldt, took i think one less mark than Riewoldt

1- Begley- Did a great job keeping that littel **** Milne out of the game and couldnt work out why he was taken off for a brief period??? puzzling really, bit like a few other moves??

BTM

3- Bode- worked his guts out at the bottom of packs when he was on the field

2- Begley- kept milne out of the game

1- Doughty- thought he put in the best performance i have seen from him in a long time, was hard at it and decided to break team rules and use the ball well!!

Rookie

Hentschell- love this kid, his composure under pressure is amazing, couldnt work out for the life of me why he was taken off Riewoldt and put onto Koschitzke, if he was going to get moved we shouldve put him onto Gehrig, basset was gettint caned all night!

POTY:

5. Ricciuto - It took me a while to decide on Roo but eventually did because his work rate was enormous. I'm a bit concerned that the other players are starting to rely on him like Collingwood of the 90's with Buckley which has been shown not to work. We dished off to Roo when he was in the wrong position far too often and consequently put his disposal under pressure. Need to be a bit less Roo conscious and take better options. Not his fault though and still our best player.

4. Bode - Good ball getting effort from Bodey. We need him hunting the ball around packs.

3. McLeod - Far better effort from the champ. Started to show a bit of his dash again and looked far less hesitant than previous weeks. He is not far away from destroying a team now.

2. Johncock - Another good game from Stiffy. Dangerous up forward and provided plenty around the ground as well.

1. Burton - Would have been higher but just makes too many mistakes with the ball (none worse than when he took out Kenny after Kenny had out-bodied Riewoldt anyway). He is basically the only player in our side that takes a contested mark and his work rate is excellent.

BTM
3. James Begley - Thrashed Milne who has always been a danger to us. He did the same to Farmer the week before and has cemented his place for a while.

2. Kenny - Was winning his position up forward before being moved back and doing a good job on Riewoldt.

1. Bode - Won the ball for a lot of his team mates.

ROTY

Hentschell - Was easily beating Riewoldt before being moved. Still won his position all night and used the ball well again.

I loved the debut of Jericho as well and he is a player of the future but I'm surprised at the number of posters who have gone for him ahead of Henstchell.

5 - Roo - say no more

4 - Johncock - good game again and he is really committed.

3 - Hentschell - Find of the year. His willingness to wait for the correct option is tremendous. Backs up Stiffy and I who said he could play when all others bagged him.

2 - Begley - shut out milne - top stuff and he could be quite handy. Like him in defence as he doesn't have to kick for goal

1 - Burton - lots of the ball but is a dumb footballer. I called him that at the game and a women behind me got stuck into me saying that if he was an AFL footballer how could he be dumb. Words failed me.

TTM

3 - Bode - excellent effort. why he was on the bench for so long is beyond me.

2 - McGregor - worked his guts out and took some nice marks. Still neeeds a hair cut.

1 - Massie - another very solid game and has been an excellent trade.

A mentions to Doughty who was very good in teh clinches and used the ball well, and to McLeod who was much much bettter. He should hopefully keep improving from here.

Rookie

Hentschell easily. Jericho was promising but nowhere near the presence of Hentschell yet which is fair enough.

The Ugly

Scott Welsh's ability to make a contest was very oridary as was his use of the ball and goalkicking. Needs to improve.

Hudson not making a contest in the last qtr and letting Gherig mark the ball. Bewlidering.

I can't recall bagging him. However, something along the lines that he needed to show something this year - & he has!!

Yeah but you didn't really stick your head out for him. ;):p

Oh I can remember standing up for the kid after his less memorable game against Melbourne last year when everyone was calling for his head  :o :o :o

I'll put my hands up and apologise re Trentschel... I really didn't like the look of him in his early games and would've preferred to have seen Bock finally given a go instead - however, he looks to have really come on, has a touch of class and we finally look capable (not exactly now, but in the NTD future) of allowing Smart to retire gracefully rather than having to rely on him week-in week-out.

You were right Stiffy, but I'm still well ahead thanks to my stellar Nostradamous effort re Johncock > Reilly ;)

Ironic that "Stiffy" rated Reilly ahead of his namesake! ;)

... though put my hand up to say I also had Reilly > Stiffy.

Might have been you or someone else... but the way you were talking him up I had a fair inkling you could've been his mum :o :p

Or better yet, I reckon that in time McLeod's tattoo will be bigger and scarier than Ricciuto's collection of ink :p

In all seriousness I think Watts will be the pick of our kids in the years to come provided we can hold onto him. Just has that fearlessness and great pack marking ability - from the footage I saw of him in the U18 comps - which could make him a great player (or an injury crock) and it shouldn't be too long before we're pencilling him in for our illustrious BF Adelaide Board Rookie of the Year.

The major concern with Watts is that becaue of the way he plays he will cop his fair share of injuries over his career. I don't think it will be too long before Watts gets into the side. Especially if our string of losses continues.

Possbily so but you wouldn't sacrifice that sort of effort for him to remain injury free

Anyway I hope Kruger becomes our best player just because you bagged him so much after the draft:D ;)

I still don't understand the decision to take Krueger with our second pick.

The guy was 21 and wasn't exactly highly sought after.

Why not take him in the rookie draft?
