Positives

• Tom Gross will be a good one.
• Liam Ryan back to his best and again setting a great tone with his chasing
• Ginbey set and forget for 200 games

Negatives

• I get it, it’s fun to see the kids, but going in with a midfield that young and getting a touch up is the least surprising thing going. Senior players not any better, I get it, but the kids’ tanks are just not built yet and we blow up late third quarter every single week because everyone had to cover so much. Feel for the defenders, did reasonably well today all things told because the wave after wave of easy running from clearances or transition is a recipe for nothing.
• Can’t really complain cause gee Carlton left some out there, but our basic finishing inside 50 hurts all the more when we get so few chances.
• Pretty sure that’s the fewest contested possessions in AFL history.
• Can’t hold onto the pill and take the sting out of the game, coach seemingly doesn’t want to even if we could. Just get it and sprint forward and handball it and go go go. That’ll work.

Harley back in the middle, they worked hard but we can’t just throw Hall/Gross/Hutch to the wolves like that ever again. Sad state when the way to give them support is throw another teenager or two at the issue.

Maric's casual skill errors are my current fixation, they drive me nuts. You can't play that position and get lazy with your disposal, it's a turnover every time.

Thank god for Ryan because watching him today was the first time this boring af team has entertained in a very long time.

Harley back in the middle, they worked hard but we can’t just throw Hall/Gross/Hutch to the wolves like that ever again. Sad state when the way to give them support is throw another teenager or two at the issue.

This is the most gutless, soft **** approach that's held us back since 2020. Throw the ****ing kids in, make them play, push them, make them go up against the best, make them learn, build them up, there's no other way because our senior group is ****ing shit and a ****ing waste of time. Put your faith in the younger players to grow into something ala hawthorn.

Coaching today was horrible, centre square we all go in for ball instead of holding back giving Carlton easy clearance

Hutch on Walsh at centre square Walsh went one way Hutch the other and Walsh kept getting the ball

Clay Hall in general play behind his man by 2 to 3 metres too much room and Hewitt got too much easy ball
again in close Hall is good

Worst decision Playing Graham as spare mid leaving Saad no one on him and getting easy ball out of defence and creating
overlap again and again
This decision killed us more than anything else today
Was a horrible decision

God we desperately need Yeo back and it still another 5 weeks

Positive's

Forward line looked really good today considering the amount of possessions

Game Day is LITERALLY the worst day of the week.

It all feels relatively positive until we actually play an opposition.

Maric in defense is actually pretty annoying.

Gets the ball fed to him or scabs the kick ins and simply doesn't do enough with it.
He's an elite kick but I'm not seeing any elite kicks.

Meanwhile his defensive efforts leave a lot to be desired, and he looooves a brain fade.

That's way down my list of things in this game, but it's worth getting off me chest.


Still trying to see some modicum of a game plan somewhere. "Do pressure and create turnovers...." Oh is that right? You mean like any other team in the comp, only we're doing it worse?

Big if, but if Reid ask to leave (at this point does anyone blame anyone wanting out?) that leaves us with 1 top 10 draft pick on our list, and he's a half backer.
We need assistance.
Priority picks
Additional cap space to throw at and entice players to move over.
Soft cap space to help fast track our young guys, and McQualter needs all the help in assistance he can get around him.

We are bad. Worse than North before us and see what they were gifted. The loosing culture has well in truely gripped the club, that's going to be very hard to shake quickly. We are going to be irrelevant for a very long time. The club dug ourselves here, but we need help to get ourselves out of it.

The fact finding continues for Mini I would hope. Hunt not up to it, off to the WAFL. Both captains are playing appallingly. If Allen is not fit then don’t play him. Brisbane/Hawthorn won’t be pleased

Harley needs to move back into the middle now.

Positives from Gross, Ryan, Dewar, Hall. Hough and Ginbey made a few errors but will be mainstays.

Good to get Jake back, he’ll be better for the run. Hutchinson hopefully can build and be given a solid opportunity.

Need to keep persisting. Not overly fussed, but another short break won’t do any good. A few changes needed for next week and hopefully a red hot crack at home.

If you're replacing Baker in the middle then yeah, drop duggan too and play two kids down back.

Baker and Graham would want to be setting some bloody good standards at training given I don’t rate their contributions at all.

They don’t win contested possessions and don’t win clearances. Makes it hard to see the point of them if they aren’t helping the kids out at the coal face.

Presumably now all those we will finish 9-12 fanbois from the start of the season (better than the Saints LOL ) we don’t need a priority picks, etc, have had the living shite kicked out of their delusions, so yes we should all be on the same page.

Honestly you ain't wrong. If it weren't for this bloody Bigfooty forum I would have checked out of this team after the '23 scg nightmare.

Hang in there dudes, you make my, what is usually, favourite season of the year enjoyable.

After all it's just footy, not the end of the world. But having a place to talk and meme about it with like minded folks is fantastic

That was somewhat less bad than the scoreboard looks, those junktime goals on a 34 degree day shouldn't define it. We also had plenty of bad misses which didn't help. The clearances and i50s are obviously terrible but what did we expect?

We have many problems but at least there are a lot more positives to take out of a game like today than anything there was two years ago. As much as we are complaining about "the seniors" who do we really mean today? Hunt, Duggan and Allen?

Edwards was much, much better, Gross looks exceptional and plenty of the other kids had their moments. The game plan also looked much better at times today - Waterman giving us options up forward helps a lot.

I like the idea of Harley and Maric down back but both of them being there is too much at the moment. Neither offers enough defensively at this stage.

If we kicked gettable goals we put pressure on and things look a lot better.

Look at the Lions game. we kicked like 5.0 and looked great.
