Was another game I struggled to watch. Next week I might just wait until Q3 to start watching :p . Can’t start next week like that, otherwise Collywobble will put us to the sword.

Hippy mentioned at the end of the game that the coaches changed positions which led to him getting more involved in the game. Could see that he switched with Day, playing further up the ground, which was good to see.

On Day, I hope this will be his last season. He is important structure wise, so that Omac doesn’t get gassed throughout games, but is gassed himself when in the forward half. He’s a bit like Pat Cripps after he rucks. If there’s a fifth player on the bench next year, Fort/Smith would take his spot. Looked bad when it just took he and Hippy to switch places to get Hippy into the game.

If I had a choice of resigning two of Cal, Morris or Kai, Kai gets the flick. Cal is now too important to our game style and Morris is a hell of a player. Hope all three resign, but this game showed how important those two are.

Also, how the hell are we going to fit Kiddy, Zorko and Fletcher in the current team? Too stacked, too good. Would have to kick out Shagga, then make Reville the sub at this stage. I feel bad for Marshall and Annable for the next couple of years. Don’t know how we fit all these players into the team.

Reville should be a permanent sub that comes on during Q3. Think he’s a bit behind the pace when played for a whole game.

I am now convinced that there is only one player on the Bulldogs team, and that’s Darcy. Commentators could not stop talking about him. Is the new Daicos, and it’s ****ing annoying.

Good to win against good opposition. Hopefully we start better next week.

It was mentioned in the commentary how much of a bargain buy Cal was. Rare for commentators to be so insightful and observant but it is true. Brave, versatile, smart in attack and defense, very team first. He is an instinctive small forward by nature but that isn’t all he offers. Dependable and knows where to be. I really hope he is enjoying this period of his career after a start at GC and slow beginning at the Lions that must have felt unfulfilling.

I wouldn't mind seeing us try Hippy in the ruck at some point. Drop Day and replace with Lohman. I think Hippy is up to the job and like Daniher it can help bring him into the game.

Rayner, Lohman, Ah Chee and Cameron are all targets in the forward 50, especially if we are controlling our entries, zig zaging if you will. The only issue is the slow down the line play, having one less target for those kicks as teams set up well for them.

Anyway I just think it's worth a trial for a few weeks.

Fletcher got my top vote again this week, from start to finish he just delivered where the others came and played their parts later in the match. We have a very good player in that kid - as we do with Morris and the Ashcrofts as well. Payne, McCluggage, Ah Chee, Hippy, Neale, Harris, Bailey all went well. Just a bloody good team effort.
Agree with it all. Really keen on Morris (have we signed him yet?), kicked a couple of really important goals for us in the first half, and no doubt clubs will be focusing on negating him, as he is a real threat.

So many contributors in that second half, fantastic performance. I did state earlier in the week, that the shorter turn around and the relatively hot conditions and fast game against Freo, might impact the Dogs, but regardless a tremendous team response after half time.

Wonder who the brave person was that stood up - any guesses?
Jarrod Berry just on channel 7 show.
He was asked that question
Said Harris usually is the only one that stands at that part of the 1/2-time break when Fagan talks to the group.
So, it was Harris, but he slowly lowered his kneed to crouch.

Was an absolute belting if you take out the second quarter
Both sides can play that game though. Takeout the 3rd qtr and we lose by a goal. Regardless, it was great to see us kick on after they nearly levelled it in the last qtr.

Momentum is massive in today’s game. If we can find a way to break the 3+ goal run-ons that teams get we’ll be even harder to beat.

It was Logan Morris according to Jay Clark.
Awesome if true.
Since his first practice game, he has just made it hard not to pick him. Awesome second year so far as well.

Cmon llordo give us a go, give us a go you empty shell

In all fairness to Lloyd, I’ve noticed Will does this too. I wouldn’t suggest he’s trying yo boost his numbers though, just looking to exploit a gap in oppo defence and get the ball moving.
He probably needs to be selective about how he uses it, better teams will set a trap for him on it.

Anyone notice Nick Daicos also does this?

Wouldn't be surprised if there's an era of mids who've been coached to do the give and get and it takes time for them to get the balance right at AFL level.

Thought Will looked a lot better at making the right call yesterday.
