And you. I expect a good game. Just in Toby Greene won't play.

I think it is at least partly this. There are several HBFs off their best form atm. Think they showed it on the couch. Can also confirm from a fantasy POV.1 thing about Wilson it seems like a lot of the running HBF'ers haven't been reaching the heights of the last few years , something has shifted I think whether that is coaches shutting them down more or the new rules who knows

Hurn was killing me in Draft until we predictably gave him BOG honoursI think it is at least partly this. There are several HBFs off their best form atm. Think they showed it on the couch. Can also confirm from a fantasy POV.
Weber says Tests for Fyfe and Hamling on Thursday, Ballas available. Blakely and Logue next week.
Harley got spooked by his calf again by the sounds. Nothing popped up in the normal scan, MRI tomorrow
I think it might be more competitive than the bookies think.
The offer was wierd for me too. I wonder if the club is placating ACT members cos they frequently make the offer at Spotless. I havent redeemed them but I assume they are GA.
I have an ultimate membership so it may just be I was included in an ACT members only offer. Let me know if you want them.
Members Bring Mates
GIANTS Members can redeem two additional tickets to the big round five game between the GIANTS and Fremantle coming up at UNSW Canberra Oval.
Can you two giants fans get a room on your own board?
It is your board, so apologies. We have a lot of members who are Sydney residents and want to watch live footy, that dont necessarily support the Giants though. I forget it must seem odd to other clubs.
Hi IC. I will be travelling over with my partner for the game and had hoped to get a seta in the Bradman Stand. Looks like single seats only though. Any advice on how to get a seat there? Freo has an allocation but it is behind the goals...
Sorry
I dont know any way. There's limited stand seats at Manuka and most are taken by members based on what I see.
I did **** up while checking where the offer was and redeem 2 GA tkts behind the goals though.
If anybody wants them PM me an email address and I'll respond with the PDf's. There's no complications they are transferable and not linked to me in anyway. I live in Sydney and dont know anyone in Canberra that would want them.
Genuine stuff uo. If no takers I'll call the club. With a nice day if 23° preducted I think it will sell out. Hate to think I wasted two seats.
Goodness, you had to go to the player most likely the 22nd picked for the side to get an example. Yeah in a young side he has gone for players with strong physical presence in that example. Anyway you look at it all three of those players are on our list with a decision to be made at some not too distant date about their future. I suspect all three of those players make similar "effort" to each other. What Hughes probably does that gets him preferred at the moment is unlikely to have much to do with that, and may have more to do with his physical aggression or his pressure skills. That type of thing. Most assume they are keeping a seat warm for the highly skilled and nippy Carter.Line ball he chooses effort or preferred. He had smart skillful/tidy players like Duman and nyhuis to pick from round 1 and he chose hughes. Not sure it will matter long term, logue or cox will get a gig before hughes i would have thought Uunless Hughes can show significant improvement in certain areas. He has had some goodish games but bad kicking and decision-making will probably make him expendable if there is a change in focus in selection.
Hopefully soon, now that we are putting some emphasis on recruiting for skills, we can have both effort and skill in the same players and we have a training structure that both teaches and maintains those skills, not leave them to deteriorate .

I don't think the coach is a teacher, and I have my doubts that you can teach football skills at the top level. We are talking about the elite talent in the competition here. I think it is more accurate to think of the coach in AFL in a similar role as a film director or orchestra conductor than a teacher. The talent arrives with skills and they are instructed about what their roles are etc. There may be some skills development, but it is not the fundamental role of the coach. Especially basic things like disposal. Pressure skills, skills related to strategy, decision making, positioning, body on body work; perhaps these are skills that can be taught and trained for, but the best skills training is match sims and playing isn't it?
Of course you practice skills. They do that every session. Every trial match. All sports people practice skills.I don’t buy the idea that once you’re a pro you practice your skills less. NBA guys get up more shots than any ammo and they are already the best in the world. They are constantly trying for a 1 or 2% improvement

Based on?I reckon he’ll go okay first game back.
Fair enough. Where most of those players were taken there is going to be some deficiency for sure, and expectations would be that they will primarily be depth players unless they can address those deficiencies. Conca's disposal issues are overstated, and Switkowski and Matera are average rather than bad imo.Through the rebuild there hasn't been a definitive focus on highly skilled players. Sure, we have added guys like Ryan and Wilson. But we have brought in plenty of guys that aren't great kicks and are in the mix to be selected every week ... Brayshaw, Banfield, Conca, Colyer, Schulz, Switkovski, Matera, Giro, etc. It is clearly not a requirement/priority like Hawthorn had.
I’d go Colyer and Schulz out.I don’t mind Ballas coming in for Schultz as it is a tough away game, and gives us a bit better skill by foot + i think he has a marshalling effect on our sometimes young forward line. But not sure who then comes out for Fyfe. Could be Tucker? Brayshaw and Cerra are not super productive as mids yet but maybe it’s best they play AFL
