I actually think Max is starting to show abit. I wouldnt want to drop him this week. This is the type of game that might just see him hit his straps

He has been a good match up in the past for Goodes - particularly if he plays a on-ball type role. Not the match to drop him in. Bring Pris in for a run for Gamble.

Imagine two years ago, would we have thought that Kelly would become a leadup half forward flanker?

A similar decision needs to be made now with Prismall. Should we continue with 'there is no midfield spot available', or should we try to inject a difference to the team to 'see what happens'.

The remove a likeness and inject the similar player works normally, however if we are doing that with the same people, how do we know it wouldn't work another way.

Gamble makes way for Byrnes is most likely happen as he tore it up in the magoos, however hasn't he done this before? Could we move someone else around to make way for Prismall?

I think that opportunity is now.

Isn't that what he played when he was first drafted?

Not too sure, maybe someone could research that. I believed he played on the ball or wing.
Watching the '03 highlight reels that SJ posted in the St Kilda thread, Kelly seemed to have spent a fair bit of time near goals. I don't really remember the period that well, but IIRC Kelly was drafted as a HFF/mid.

Remember that Elim Final against the Dees?

James Kelly's write-up in the Herald-Scum following that September 3, 2005 final against the Dees; 3 out of four stars Kicked the first goal and added two more later. Clever and classy.

His stats - 14 kicks, 3 handballs, 3 tackles, 3 goals straight.

The score - Geel 18.8 (116) def Melb 9.7 (61)

Geelong's Goalkickers - G Ablett, Kelly 3, Mackie, Ling, Mooney, Playfair 2, N Ablett, Tenace, Kingsley, S Johnson

Geelong's Best - Mooney, G Ablett, Bartel, Milburn, Rooke, Ling, King

Crowd - 65,018 at the MCG

The liftout cover has Kelly after a goal with his finger in the air and the caption 'Bring on the SWANS':o
