The winless Dons come up against an in form Collingwood, having won 3 of the 4 games so far this season. However head to head, the Bombers have held the wood over the Pies for the past few years, winning 7 of the last 9 and 3 of the last 5 the two teams have played each other.

Essendon scored over 100 again on the weekend but couldn't get over the line against Port Melbourne, relegating them to second last on the VFL ladder. Kaine Baldwin put his name up for a recall into the AFL side with 5 goals, whilst Joe Atley and Dylan Landt were amongst the best for the Dons through the middle of the ground.

Collingwood's last start was their first loss of the season, going down to GWS by 17 points, the Giants having lead for most of the day. Oliver Henry was the main man inside 50 with 3 goals, whilst Finlay Macrae and Tyler Brown had 52 disposals and a goal between them through the middle of the ground, showcasing the depth of Collingwood's midfield.

Realistically it's another loss here. Their midfield will completely and utterly destroy ours.

That's interesting. To ensure folks only go to one?
No I think it's to do with player availability.

Like if you have someone suddenly come out of the AFL side due to H&S protocols then you'll know before the VFL game starts and should have maximum opportunity to bring in a replacement that hasn't already played the day before.

More of a thing if you do a West Coast than one player at a time.

I blame Dan . Should have lifted the close contact rules before the VFL started :p

It's deliberate because covid - Mahoney mentioned it in one of those member videos a week or two ago.

Playing a heap of day games hasn’t helped, we’ve got a block of 3 Saturday night games coming up after the Dogs game next week so should be a bit better then.

I'm harping on this but we can really expose Collingwood's defence today if we play McBride forward. They only have Cox and Wilson as key forwards, who Reid and Brand should be suited to, so a combination of McBride (197), Eyre (198) and Archard (199)/Bryan (202) can expose McMahon (197), Kelly (194) and Glover (194).

Still, their midfield will s**t all over ours.

Alex Hird to play today as confirmed this morning.

Good to see the brothers playing together and will be out there at Windy Hill for it.

Also Wanganeen, Jones and Francis will not play...Hind not named either. Smith and Cutler to play.
What is the point of not playing Jones. Doesnt he need to match fitness.

He seemed to have a sore ankle again at one point last week, they strapped him up and he played on but perhaps it was worse than we thought.

Or perhaps Stringer is in doubt and they're pulling a fast one.

Then Francis should play VFL. Can understand holding one of Jones or Francis back to cover Stringer, but not both.

Tom Cutler 13 disposals in the first quarter.
