We probably should win. We've shown some good resilience, fighting back from deficits to get a win. Last week we played our game with some freedom, built a bit of cohesion, scored freely when needed. Looked like the players enjoyed the game, got a bit loose and lazy, maybe too much. Got a bit undisciplined, I don't think Fages was too happy with Morris not coming off when told as an example. I reckon the team got a deserved bollocking after the game re discipline and focus. I'm sure Red Time got a mention as well.

I expect a much better effort against the Dogs. Should be switched on and determined for a 4qtr effort. Keep the intensity high and I don't think we can lose. Get lazy and we could be beaten by an undermanned team.

On reflection I think it might have happened late in the third? Definitely saw him stay down for a long while and get up looking sluggish.

Was definitely in the third because I left at 3QT to go to the pub.
I didn't see the match but I thought I read somewhere the Henry self reported sometime after the match that he had developed concussion symptoms. I just gathered he wasn't teated for a 'head knock' during the game.

Agree with Whiting with just one slight change for me in the Dogs match.

Reville Sub and McLachlan to the starting 22.

In the mix

The off-again, on-again season of Lohmann is set to continue another week despite the livewire forward running strongly at training on Tuesday. Lohmann has been subbed out in both matches he’s played this year with ankle tweaks and will miss Saturday’s contest against the Western Bulldogs. The Lions are unlikely to make any changes after their best VFL performer at the weekend, young ruck/forward Henry Smith – who kicked three goals from 30 disposals – reported concussion symptoms the day after he played. Tom Doedee made a strong return at the lower level following his third knee reconstruction, but is likely to need more conditioning before being considered for a senior call-up. – Michael Whiting

A bit more on Fletcher

"His athleticism is crazy. I thought Darcy Wilmot was incredible, but Fletch is showing him up at the moment.

"It's great to have those two guys, who are so flexible and can play on talls or smalls, who are young and exuberant and run all day.

"We get that freedom from what Harris, Payne and Lester do for us in setting us up.

"Jaspa is having a cracking start to the year, in a role that he's only really picked up in the last few weeks."

Seeing that all you b astards are creations of my consciousness and I control everything, therefore I am your God. As I feel very benevolent God, rest assured that I will ensure The Brisbane Lions never lose a game of AFL and I will win premierships in perpetuity.

How boring my existence.

Is that you Donald (yes it works both ways). ;)

Any chance of Smith getting a game? Had a great game in the VFL and Sam Day just isn’t doing it for me
He won't be selected and I think the Two's have another bye so he has no chance to mount another case for senior selection.

The next morning. Swelling can get worse over a few of days, just like other injuries.

Player concussions make me sad.

The very last sentence of the article is a worry for Starch health.

Premiership-winning Brisbane forward Kai Lohmann will miss a second successive game with an ankle injury, while Fagan said concussion victim Brandon Starcevich wasprobably somewhere between six and eight weeks” away from returning.

Was back running this week at training. Slow build needed.

Na afl.com.au article stated his medical tests all came back positive and cleared him to play again. Club are keeping him out for a further 6-8 weeks to rebuild his fitness as he’s had no physical exercise since being subbed out in round 1 as a requirement while undergoing the tests. Fages said the conditioning players lose when not doing any exercise for even a few weeks is astronomical and they’re more concerned about him copping a soft tissue injury if they bring him straight back.

The extra layoff is probably good for his brain hopefully as well.

I think/hope that is because they are being ultra conservative and trying to think of his long term health and career. Giving him a 2-3 month break guarantees no concussion for that length of time.
I would prefer to have a slightly weaker team for the next couple of months than 1. have Starces long term health impacted and 2. have more chance of him being fully fit and healthy at the tail end of the season.
