I love how on edge we all are this year. Imagine if we lose a game!
We will, of course, respond as a mature supporter group full of reasonable individuals and discuss the multivariate elements that led to the loss and possible constructive options to rectify whatever issues are identified in the following game whilst, naturally, avoiding all elements of blame, insults, playing the man, catastrophising or any other rhetorical devices more commonly used by trolls, fools, or Carlton fans ... or not 😎

Was back running this week at training. Slow build needed.
I agree with you on the slow build. Remember back when Clark had concussion and retired so young. Every time they lifted his training load the symptoms would show again. Probably with Starc they are doing the slow build, as in build and monitor, making sure they don't rush and he relapses.

The Brisbane Lions are going to place tarrifs on Footscray, thereby making them non-competitive, even though we have a trade surplus with them. We imported Bernie Quinlan, Josh Dunkley and Dougie Hawkins, but we exported Justin Sherman, Peter Foster, Josh Schache, Matthew Dent, Chris Hanson, Jason Akermanis and Jed Adcock to them. They also sought to overturn our sanctions by importing Glenn Coleman and Richard Osborne from us via Sydney.

They will be begging us to take our tariff off them, but we won’t. They will be 145% less competitive than us!

Naughton’s headband is covering his eyes too often. Payne to Darcy with Andrews floating across- makes for an easy double tag.

Dunks to Libba.

The win is ours for the taking. 5-0 start to our premiership defence. Will make it 19 wins from our last 21.
Alternatively,
Andrews goes to Darcy
Payne goes to O’Donnell
Lester goes to Naughton

The key will be to deny Footscray entries inside 50 by winning the midfield battle and locking it into our forward half.

It’s such a simple game.

Yeah I don't see Andrews playing on Darcy. Payne will get first crack at it.

Andrews would play on the third tall and float across. Leaves Lester on Naughton which is ok.

Such a narrow ground. We simply must win contested footy because A it’s more important at Norwood and B it will be hard to find space for our 45 degree kicks. No Bont and Treloar feels significant at this ground.

Handy that we were able to configure BHA to Norwood dimensions for training.

Or Andrews goes to Naughton, who is a shadow of the player he was, and gives him no respect?

My fear (and surely the coaches are already a step ahead on this), is that we a) become too hell-bent on stopping Darcy that we allow Naughton (or O'Donnell) to get off the chain, or b) allow their forwards to do a do-si-do with matchups (as GWS and GC did last year, or was it the year before also?), and we end up with Andrews caught between defending and helping (as he ends up with Darcy), and our key backs collectively looking all at sea. Bevo strikes me as a coach who would try and exploit this quirk.

Going the other way, and I know it's a cliche, but we simply MUST lower our eyes and not allow Jones and Lobb to pick off indiscriminate long kicks coming in (with the possibility of English drifting back also).

FWIW, I think we have too much strength at ground level through the midfield and forward for them to counter, but I'd hate to see us play into their hands at both ends of the ground to even that up, and give them a sniff.

I think we should do everything to increase trade between the two clubs.

Hoping for an improved four quarter effort this week. There are quite a few players that have been inconsistent. Its time to remedy the fluctuating form with a solid win over the Dogs. Lions by 31 pts. Day to finally kick a goal.

We could take Sam Darcy off their hands. Bontempelli could be the steak knives. Of course, the only player on our list who would be a fair trade for those two players is Ryan Lester and we would never part with him.

Cheap Chinese headband. The MHGA headbands we will be forced to import from the United States at vastly inflated prices will stay in place. Making Headbands Great Again!

A real missed opportunity by not naming Craven as the emergency in favour of Marshall.

I doubt it is a missed opportunity as emergencies rarely get a game (unless you play for the Cats).
We have only had 2 VFL games to go on, so a lot would have to do with training and attitude

Also, reasonably early draft picks usually get a bit of a preference over other youth.

Below basic stats from the 2 VFL games

I see the Melbourne-centric media are at it again in the lead up to the Lions v Footscray game with their prematch commentary. Instead of asking who is going to stop Sam Darcy, they should ask the real game breaking question -

“WHO IS GOING TO STOP SAM DAY?

So, Lester is playing as the lose man ;)

Sack Fagan !!!
We can’t now, because all of his ‘pets’ are actually BONA FIDE best 22 players. Premiership Pets are the best sort of pets.

Naughton plays 2 blinders a year and the rest of the time he's pretty much a passenger. I'd risk Froggy on him and if he's having a day out reassess.

Harris just looks unhappy when he's on the big dogs , plays them from behind and it never really seems to work. So. Payne goes to Darcy. Harris to float around and help Payne with the big fist from behind when required. Everyone's gone Darcy mad , sure he looks a total gun but limit his space so he can't get a good run and leap as much as possible.

I just don't see their M/F in the same class as ours. Libba's burning it up lately but Dunkley should negate him.
