Errr... he was suspended not injured. "Rushing him back" clearly isn't an issue here as he's been playing in the VFL whilst he's been suspended.

WTF? where did i say he was injured? i meant lets not rush him back from the 2's just because he kicked a few goals on the weekend.

did i miss the afl fans broche which explained 'rushing him back' refered to injuries???

Looking at the bench, Hartlett for Setanta is the only possible change and that might not even happen.

Grigg, Pfeiffer and Bannister are certainties to stay. Though if Armfield was to play it would be for Pfeiffer.

I think the Blues are deliberately naming Russell in the starting 18 to avoid speculation about him being dropped as they intend to teach him and give him every opportunity.

Russell is named in the 18 because he deserves to be there, plain and simple. Good to see us sticking with him, i think he's definitely starting to show a bit of what he can really do.

I certainly recall reading he kicked 4. Am I an insane man?

harlett was outed for 2 weeks.

He returned to the two's last week and booted four.

this is he's second week post suspension.

he was unable to play for two weeks due to the suspension as is the laws of the afl. This may make him not quite game fit for the ones just yet.

Due to the lack of discipline he showed in that incident, regardless of what howet did, I don't think ratts would be rushing him back in until he fully proves himself in the two's.

Hartlett played last week because his 2 game suspension was up and we didn't want to bring him straight back into the team.

He kicked 4 goals so we'll probably bring him in. Harts in for Setanta is the only change that I would consider making to the team. Setanta was very poor last week and was our worst player, noone else deserves to be dropped. Hartlett would be a much better option for us, particularly up forward.

Good to see that Armfield is named on the extended bench. However, I don't think he'll play because that means that we would have to drop one of Bannister, Grigg or Pfeiffer for him, and going on last weeks performances, that shouldn't happen.

6 disposals, 3 marks and a goal is not impressive. Just because Ratten stated that it doesnt give O'hAilpin rights to the 22.

Hartlett took 9 marks and kicked 4 in the VFL btw.
sometime stats are not the only thing.......structurally ohailpin takes pressure off fev and fish and noticed how wide he played last week.....nullifying chances of a third man up situation.:thumbsu:

Hartlett will definitely replace O'Hailpin. Ratten's game plan requires us to have a lead up CHF and Hartlett is the man at the moment.

Hartlett will play as it will be part of the game plan. Fevola will be double and triple teamed so we will need another go to foward, this will be Harlett.

Whether or not Harts, Irish, Armfield etc play one thing's for sure - our side is clearly stronger on paper.

Let's all hope the boys run out with the right mindset and really do a job on the Dees.

Fellas, I see Pfeiffer's on the extended bench.... I thought he'd been doing pretty well. You reckon he'll play?

Obviously a dreamteam question here, no other reason to care about him!

I was wondering the same thing as u though but i read the thread so didnt have to ask, consensus is he will play although one guy thinks he may get dropped as he butchered a few of his kicks last week.

You would have to think setanta would be out, grigg played pretty well for a young kid and bannister has shown a lot this year. Pfeiffer will be one of these guys rotated in and out all year, Armfield in..gotta give the new guys a look if they warrant it.

how do you guys think fev will go this week? he has been on fire the last 2 games and i believe that the Melbourne defenders aren't that great. Do you think he is a chance to kick 10 for the first time in his career (the millennium match doesn't count). I know that a lot of this will depend on how well the ball gets delivered to him through the midfield, I just believe that this might be his best shot at hitting the illusive double figures.

I think FEV will be triple teamed and they will also try and block his leading paths. If he can kick 5 or more that would be a great effort and it would be the margin for the win.

We need to somehow clear everyone out of the F50 and leave him one on one with that hack with a crap haircut Caroll. If that happens well he could kick 19 giving him the record!!!

CARNA BLUE BOYS!!!!!!

WINNING MARGIN 39PTS

Reckon Fev will tear Melbourne apart. Fev has a good record playing on Nathan Carroll. Takes him to the cleaners more often than not and considering Fev is in red hot form it's going to take a big effort to hold him to few.

Having said that you must think though that Melbourne would go out of their way to make sure he's taken out of the game. Expect 2-3 players around Fev at almost every stage he gets near the ball this week. That's the whole reason i want Hartlett to play. If Fev is being double and triple teamed i have no doubts in my mind that Hartlett will take full advantage - not so sure about O'hAilpin's capabilities in this area.
