Not sure if anyone would actually have Bernie Vince but this should be noted...

A player that doesn't care about his DT score should be traded out immediately.

Ranked 8th overall, so obviously in a good position early to cement my place up there with some luck, but this Ablett thing has been a huge curveball.

Can't decide whether it would be worth my while to go Ablett > Stanton/Pendles and bring him back in later, or be bleeding much needed points for the next few weeks. With a high ranking, is it really worth taking the risk to play a rookie and sacrifice the points, or take the no risks approach but potentially be out of trades earlier than most?

You won't be ranked that highly at the end of the year if you're burning trades every time one of your players is out for a couple weeks. It's a long season and trades are gold.

You can't win the comp without taking any risks and playing it safe

My advice would be to find out as much as possible about the Ablett injury before lockout. Find his mum's phone number and give her a call, sweet talk her if you have to ;)

Hi all,
I need to trade out Vince due to him under-performing and also having a broken hand.
I have enough cash for pretty much anyone but need them to fall in the round 11 bye category. Leaning towards Rockliff but also have Thompson, Boyd and Hayes in mind. Rory Sloane is my current favourite player so thinking of slotting him in, but have a gut feeling this may backfire. Sorry for the noobish question :p

Waite: is averaging 97.8 He's every bit a PREMIUM this year!
Riewoldt: His best days might well be behind him, but I will back him to bounce back a bit from last year and average low 90's this year. :thumbsu:
Fyfe: Will be fine. GUN! :)
Only reason he was rested is because the doctor said his shoulder will be 20% stronger if he has a week off. Sucked in to everyone who traded him out! :D

Fyfe has a 22 in his rolling average for 2 more weeks. Break even of 187 this week. Should drop 50-100k depending on how well he comes back from the injury. Ideal upgrade target.

Don't go Sloane, not a premium nor a cash cow. All those others are decent options but Boyd would be tempting with GWS this week.

Thanks for the reply. The predicament I have is as follows:
Vince and Ablett in the midfield not playing > Vince trade for Boyd / Rocky / Thompson
Mid bench T. Greene and C. Smith, both didn't play last round > Trade for JMac / Miles / Pfeiffer so I have cover for Ablett
Anyone keen on Miles or Pfeiffer over Jmac? I didn't watch either of them play last week.

Yes and I will have an extra trade up my sleeve for keeping him on the pine for a week. :) His price is irrelevant if you already have him & plan on keeping him.

Not sure that Fyfe will continue pumping out good scores, and he is a prime candidate for a rest when Freo come up against GC and GWS. Not to mention the the risk of an even more severe dislocation.

If you've kept him I suppose you took the gamble to retain him but as someone who ditched Fyfe last week I obviously have the opinion that it's too big a risk.

well done on the excellent ranking.

your predicament is a common one faced by those with extremely high rankings. the pressure to maintain the ranking by being ultra-aggressive with trade decisions is normal. there is no right or wrong answer in this situation, i'm not sure how many trades you've used thus far but the points you'll gain in the next two weeks may not make up for the points you'll gain later in the year by having that extra 2 trades up your sleeve (i say 2 trades because no doubt GAJ is a player you'll need in your side this year, so if you trade him out now, you'll most likely be using another trade to bring him back in later).

how will you feel if GAJ somehow is back next week, what if he only misses 2 and makes it back in time for the GWS game and scores 400 as everyones captain?

Careful there....plenty players mooted as potential captain options against the Giants have failed so far (Goodes, Mumford, Cox and Thompson somehow pulled out a 100...somehow). However that said Ablett is at a whole different level compared to those names and I think Boyd could have a top score against the Giants this week...he doesn't seem like the type to put in two terrible scores in a row!

Ablett -> Murphy

Willing to take the risk on this one (unless more news comes out on Abletts knee). I have rookies such as Shiel, Magner, Kennedy, Bugg, Morris, Ellis, Redden and Clarke to help me get Ablett back in. I will wait until Ablett plays in his first game back before getting him in just to make sure that knee is right as well. Once i have him back in i will have a finished midfield of Ablett, Pendlebury, Boyd, Mitchell, Murphy and Watson. It's the strategy i'm going for this year, get the midfield finished early. Was going to go with Barlow instead of Murphy and take the 190k but unfortunately he shares a bye with Pendles and Watson.

Already have Treloar and McDonald so no other trades this week.

Awww, poor Bernie is cutting up rough because he is no longer DT relevant.
More like there are idiots out there who flood players Twitters these days over fantasy footy. Some don't mind it, some couldn't give a shit about DT, Bernie is one of those. Players care about their stats, but I highly doubt DT is at the top of their mind on gameday. Spamming a player's wall because they didn't fulfil your fantasy teams need isn't on, and I can see why he is pissed off. I'm also sure he isn't the only player thinking it.

Your trading out Riewoldt who is averaging almost exactly what you paid for him!

He's averaging under 80 against teams who aren't the Gold Coast, and those other teams weren't exactly competition powerhouses either.

He gets a reprieve due to the two trade per round limit and me having higher priorities, but if he can't perform against Melbourne this round, then I'm not going to back him to get back to form in the next month against Hawthorn, Carlton, West Coast and Sydney when I can upgrade him to someone like Cloke for probably about 10-15k who'll have a low B/E next round and only has one game out of his next 6 against good opposition.
