Rubbish. We escape criticism far too much, for years this has happened. Even in the press conference, Bevo giving Brisbane credit, what he should've said was that we were rubbish in the first half, because we were. I love Bevo, but if that was say Ross Lyon, he wouldn't have been happy with that first half, and would've openly said it in the press conference. We are papering over cracks at the moment. After round nine, I'm sure there will be a lot of you not so happy with our 2017!

Please don't compare Bevo to bloody Ross Lyon, especially a negative aspect of Ross Lyon. Lyon has no class and Bevo is full of it. What he says in the press conference is completely irrelevant. He's representing our club to our supporters and our sponsors and needs to be likeable. Behind closed doors there's no doubt he'd be saying the first half wasn't good enough and that's all that matters.

He's won us a premiership. Ross Lyon has done jack shit. We really shouldn't be questioning him on such trivial things and shouldn't be comparing him to someone clearly inferior

Champion data would agree with you. It was his highest ever score on the player ratings. As it was for Dunkley and Cordy.

Surprised Libba rated 7th. He seemed very quiet to me.
Libba was awful, 17 handballs, but only 3 kicks and 3 tackles.

CD must've loved them handballs....

What does Ross Lyon say in press conferences? If you can understand that monotonous crap you're doing better than me, lol.

You're right it's a great time to be a 'Dogs fan, but go easy on us. Old habits die hard for a 52 year old who's been there done that as far as my beloved club is concerned. It's probably a form of PTDD - Post Traumatic 'Dogs Disorder [emoji38]

Yes it is a great time to be a Dogs fan. Play badly and win!!!!!!!!! Some of us can remember the times the team played badly and got BELTED every time. And that was almost every week. Winning is very good but, remembering last September, playing well and winning is the greatest.

I couldn't stand to watch that first half and I was at the game, felt like some of our players were playing like rockstars. Missed tackles, stupid 50 meter penalties, continuously out numbered at contests which Brisbane would break from and go coast to coast, we simply wouldn't work as hard as them. Credit to Brisbane they are a very young team and we didn't show them enough respect and they nearly snatched it from us. Like every other week so far this season our team has looked so SLOW.

I know that's what good teams do..we're 4-1 with a number of players so very out of form so it's not all doom and gloom (since winning the premiership I have an unhealthy need for perfection) but a LOT things need to get better and next week is going to be a big test.

Macrae, Dahlhaus, Picken. 3 of our most consistent this season and 3 players who have been so underrated over their career so far up until now. Loved McLean in the guts, the best kept secret in the AFL. Kicked 2 and had 24 touches.

As it's been mentioned a few times on here brilliant game from Zaine. Props to Roberts and Adams (he has forward craft??) who are only getting better. The funny thing is it's been our lesser players who have stood up in recent weeks as apposed to some of our other 2016 most consistent players. Wood, Libba, Biggs, Smith. Severely out of form. Need them to be better against the Giants.

I'm a fan of Biggs, but should not of been brought back in after one game in the reserves, can we drop him again? I'd like to see Bailey Williams in next week.

Tom Boyd needs to do more. Needs to do more.

One player I'm looking forward to seeing that's almost forgotten about is Wallis. If he can get back in the reserves over the next couple weeks and start stringing together some good footy his a much needed piece in this midfield. Jong has his moments but his decision making at times is a real killer. Same as Dunkley.

Playing 2s in 2 weeks according to Bev.

Some harsh assessment of Tom Boyd yesterday - wasn't his best game but he did well to even be out there after suffering a substantial concussive event on Good Friday. We would have been in a world of hurt in the talls department had Tom missed with Travis out as well, and Jordan still sidelined.

Interesting game yesterday, i now realise that every bulldog supporter expects to get the free kick, because the umps always pays you one.
You're supposed to say "sorry for the intrusion" before you bother making a post on another clubs board dude.

It's an alt account for someone that wants to have a cry but doesn't want to get banned.

Of course creating alt accounts is against the rules and is supposed to result in an IP ban.

Piss off dickhead.

Enjoy the cellar
Go easy. It's not nice to speak that way to individuals that are clearly challenged.

If the satisfaction you get from life is making an account to try and cause a stir, then it really is sad. But hey, chin up I'm sure his mum thinks he's cool.

Haven't seen a lot of love for Stringer. Thought he was very good. Ideally when we get our forwards back I'd like him back in the midfield. He can do things others simply can't with breaking the lines.
he's back and a lot of footy fans haven't figured it out yet and are just abusing him and calling him selfish. It s**ts me

Edit: Wasn't paying attention. They were talking about Wood. He's been out of sorts this year

Also Bontempelli was obviously lacking penetration in his kicking yesterday :(

Has a very bad groin injury. Has to get injections to get him through. You can tell as he absolutely no power.
Ah, well that makes sense. He's nowhere near as influential as he has been in the last couple of years and some had been saying it was because we had changed our game plan or because we were playing more 1-on-1 in defence.

Any idea when it happened? He would have had a normal full pre-season I think.

Agree with all of that, and a win is a win is a win, and it's comforting to know that the boys do know how to win even if their backs are against the wall, but....

Of our 20 behinds, I'd reckon at least 12 should have been goals. This should have been a 100-point thrashing with the result never in doubt. Inaccuracy in front of the sticks seems to continue to be one of our big mental blocks. The other is the slow start come-from-behind that seems to be our modus operandi this year. Makes for exciting footy I suppose but I just wish our boys could belt the crap out of another team from first quarter onwards like a few other contenders do (Adelaide, GWS, etc). Might mean SFA come finals but it serves as a good reminder to us supporters and the opposition that we are still a genuine contender ourselves.

Mind you, I'll happily eat my own critical words if we do go back to back or if we belt a team nobody expects to be belted...like GWS and Adelaide. Oh, that would be glorious...

Adelaide and GWS are a tier above us atm. Geelong at SS in a few weeks will be an interesting test, about time to break that streak.

IMO I thought it was a great effort to get back in the game after a (let's be frank) pretty awful first half. Really enjoyed what Dunkley brought to the table, a little bit of Dane Swan without the hectic off field profile, in that he always seems to get to the right spots

Shame I can't upload the video. Hope he is not a member. If so, I know how the club will deal with him.

Etihad Stadium management investigating allegations an AFL fan racially abused a Lions trainer
Peter Rolfe, Herald Sun
April 23, 2017 4:53pm
POLICE are investigating the latest racial abuse scandal to hit the AFL with the hunt on to identify a man at Saturday’s Western Bulldogs vs Brisbane clash.

Police and Etihad Stadium management are probing claims a fan shouted racist slurs towards a Brisbane Lions trainer after video of the incident was shared by another spectator.

The footage shows a man allegedly shouting “go back to the f---ing Chinese takeaway, you d---head,” after a trainer caused a 50m penalty during the Lions clash with Western Bulldogs.

Victoria Police spokeswoman Leading Senior Constable Lee Thomson confirmed police were probing the incident.

“Victoria Police is investigating an incident of racial abuse at the Western Bulldogs vs Brisbane Lions AFL match at Etihad Stadium yesterday,’’ she said.

A spectator at the match said the man was yelling obscene comments throughout the match, including at umpires.

“Fans were disgusted and staff was notified,’’ he said. “He yelled abuse out all game to the umpires as well.

“It’s crazy that so much abuse occurs at the footy, including racial (abuse).’’

Another spectator who contacted the Herald Sun said he was sitting two rows behind the man and believes he was barracking for the Western Bulldogs.

“He was a Western Bulldogs supporter,’’ he said.

“He also went on to make a comment in front of young children that he bet that the ‘Asian’ runner was on a 457 visa.

“Not anywhere near acceptable and hope he is banned for life.’’

A witness described the incident to Yahoo 7.

“The man, of Asian descent, accidentally ran across Bob Murphy’s mark kicking for goal causing a 50m penalty,” he said.

“Fans were disgusted and staff were notified. A gentleman behind me took notes on his seating and section number and passed it onto the staff at the ground.”

It is understood the stadium’s anti-social behaviour text message service was not used, and the AFL is working with police in a bid to identify the man.

AFL spokesman Patrick Keane said the league would “provide whatever information or assistance is sought’’ from police.

“We would repeat again that such behaviour is never welcome around our matches and we are pleased that a crowd member has provided information to the police so they can act,’’ he said.

Both clubs and the league are unsure about who the man in the video supports.

The incident comes less than a fortnight after AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan said racism in the sport would not be tolerated in the wake of two separate off-field incidents after the Showdown in Adelaide earlier this month.

“The message I want to make is that from (AFL) Commission chairman Richard Goyder down, we are resolute in tackling these issues, and calling them out,” McLachlan said.

“Racism wounds people, it hurts communities, and racism has no place in our game. We have come a long way on field and we have come a long way off field, but there are still isolated instances.

“We are going to keep tackling them, we are going to keep calling them out and we are going to keep working with our supporters and our fans ... we will deal with this issue in absolute terms.”
