We need an extra defender in so Gunston can play forward and Nash can return to the VFL.
Big ground I like the pace of Miles. Would rest one of Morrison or Cousins, with the other to have a spell next week when Burgoyne returns.
In Miles, Shiels, Stratts
Out Nash, Morrison or Cousins, Mirra.

If we play poppy against two defenders alone in the forward fifty, why the hell do we kick it to him. The entire fifty is empty, kick it no where near him and he beats them both to it and goals.
Yeah, I agree, that confused me too. Sometimes there was no deep-tall option when Lewis was getting dragged by his oppo to the 50 arc, leaving Poppy or Chad deep against the likes of the taller Blicavs and Stewart.

Clarko must be trying new things to get us scoring more.. wonder if a Roughy, Lewis and Gunners forward line will be potent.

Back to basics, bring back the box! It sure worked when Franklin, Rough, Willo and Boyle were learning their craft.

Would have to be the most frustrating part of our play - seeing poppy contesting a high ball in the 50 vs two taller defenders. Can’t see this being the intention so highlights that something continues to break down. And yet Clarkson said Gunston was moved back to give space to Lewis?

We played garbage teams like Dogs and North Rounds 2 & 3 even before they played Suns.
I was more commenting on them kicking 100 than them doing it before us. It's hard to kick 100 when you line up for goal and some guy with little man syndrome decides the other team should be doing that and takes the ball off you.

I know its been said many times, maybe not this week but sometime this year Roughie should go to CHB when Lewis is playing. This may even extend Roughies career.
When roughie was further up the ground on monday, he was in everything.

We need to aim for 15 goals and break the 100 point mark this weekend. We also play our best football on the edge, a little bit unsociable. I’d like to see strats lay down the law in the huddle before the game and we go and get our hands dirty.
Spot on about playing un-sociable, we have been just way to easy to play against.. no grit or anger with our players, I probably under valued how important it was to have guys like Lake/Lewis/Hodgey/Sammy all in the same side being campaigners on the field. We miss that.

Clarkson likes to give players a few weeks before sending them back. Unless Gunston stops moving to the right when taking a set shot no point in having him take six shots to get a goal equivalent. And on kicking for goal Bruest has been even worse since late last year. I'd like them to have at least a couple of weeks of kicking for goal practice rather than general training to get it right.
I think Dylan Moore had a single week taster.

Harry Morrison played his first game isolated
Kurt Heatherly played one single game, then another single game before playing consecutive games
Blake Hardwick's first game was isolated
Marc Pittonet played in rounds 1, 12, and 23 in his first three games
Daniel How played in an isolated game before another isolated game.
Sicily played in round 2 then 22.
Orourke played only in rounds 2 and 17 in his first year with us
Then of course there's Luke Lowden.
And of course Derick Wanganeen
and so on.

So there's a bit of a littany of players getting a single game taste and then waiting their turn again....

There is no way Nash survives being dropped. He isn't contributing. The best thing for him is a month in the VFL working on his deficiencies.

Mirra is a VFL depth player at best and should only be ever considered if there's an injury/suspension.

Morrison who I had high hopes for has been very underwhelming this year and hasn't shown the same level of output that he displayed last year. It's time for him to spend 1-2 games in the VFL.

Stop bringing these "facts" into the discussion:)

I honestly thought he let them have 2-3 games before sending them back. However, I think Mitch Lewis stays in. Clarkson says he has to revamp the forward line and the team needs to learn to play with a leading forward regardless of whether it is Lewis or someone else in 12 months time.

If Nash plays on Sunday I’ll be really dissapointed, we need to reward performance and not a single possession in the first 3 quarters against Geelong isn’t up to AFL standard. He goes back to the 2’s for his own good and finds the football and gets some confidence and stakes his claim for a re-call soon. Best for him and the team.
