It won't. It will be a long overdue win at home for the Saints.

The barometer comes against Collingwood in 3 weeks and maybe to a lesser extent the premiers at Marvel the week before.

The crows will not be a walkover like the dees were, but we'll be fine.
Reckon you are getting ahead of yourself a bit. If they play well they are going to be hard to beat.

I may be wrong but I feel that the last few years, Adelaide have had a strong enough identity or game plan or whatever that their go has been to play their game and let the opposition worry about breaking it down.

It'll be a while before they are able to adjust to counter different teams which is why they generally lose heavily when they lose.

Edit: my bullshit theory has been ruined by facts. Most losses this year and last have been by 20-30 points. I still think they won't have an answer for our questions though.

I don't think it will be as close as our first 4 games unless we let them off with poor goalkicking.

View attachment 660772 Re-post for those asking above, thanks to Kildonan for providing initially. That’s our side from the weekend, and probably fairly close to our best 22? Some excellent performances from the newest guys, but look at the names in that 50-100 game middle band...
Wilkie has played 5 that should bump the average up a bit!

Tough one. Adelaide looked good after quarter time on the weekend. They made the suns look ordinary... something we failed to do. We'll need to be at our best and take our opportunities in front of goal. Again, composure and good field kicking will be crucial. Turn the ball over and i reckon they'll punish us.

Can't wait :)
One thing we never seem to do against them , is bring the heat.
Adelaide are the ultimate flat track bullies. If we start well and are aggressive in all facets , they will wilt.
We will cop it from flogs in the media , including the purple one if we lose this.
Win and we will be taken seriously.

I'll let you into a little secret. I'll be feeling disappointed if we lose regardless of whether I expected it or not.

Might as well feel good during the week I reckon. We've got the right to feel confident after the last 5 weeks and once again, I suggest that form is more relevant than the form of the last 5 years.

I don't intend to live my life confined by the fear of disappointment. Commiserations to anyone who has made that decision. Dare yourself to be hurt again and again.

Thats how I felt in 09 all season. And then of coarse it rained on GF day.......
I'm more pissy they let Chapman play and WADA banned the procedure in November of that year due to player enhancement concerns.

Everyone was aware it was on the cards to be banned, but who gives a damn about an even playing field and instead lets ban blokes for smoothies instead of blood fixing. Without him, Cats don't win, and we miss a flag by less than 2 friggen months with citation.

With what we know Essendon ended up doing and rumours doing the round with several clubs around the time including Geelong, and the Sydney Doc coming out with "The technique was used by a lot of people in sport and correctly so because it wasn't categorically banned, leave a poor taste in my mouth that they pushed that envelope as hard and far as they could because legalese had their backs for that month.

We know the AFL had NFI given what Essendon got away with 3 years later, it was all too hard so why not blood fix a bloke who end up kicking 3 goals in a match decided by 1 point wih a kick after the siren to make it 7 (discounting Hawkins deflection goal).

Winning is grand if you know that victory is not tainted with deceit.

I reckon it's about time we're involved in another Crows coach getting sacked just like in 2011.

Saints by 103 points and Don Pyke to be sacked on Monday.
I would love to exist in the strange universe where Cho's coaching is getting other head coaches sacked. Unfortunately, I think that universe is many light years away, but here's hoping

Last week was just about the most even game I have seen from us in like 7 years. No facet outside the pure ruck hitouts was given away by us. Our consistency in defence was almost impeccable and I dont think I saw a contest where anyone shirked and allowed an easy goal.

Adelaide will not have the ruck dominance that Gawn and Preuss offered. In fact Reilly O'Brien is a slightly poorer Marshall in stats but will unlikely to have the same kind of impact around the ground. We can beat them in the middle, we will beat them in defence and with a lack of truely good mid sized defenders I can see Membrey/Parker/Kent having a field day out there.

Belief and trust in one another is the road to victory and I think we finally have that. This game is OURS.
