You can only beat what's in front of you and each victory builds belief. That said Don't disagree that we have had a bit of luck on our side. We have also had our run of shit luck with injury though. We should enjoy the wins but be cautiously optimistic. I ran into a mate who follows Brisbane, a few weeks ago they were top 3 and he was on top of the world talking up finals, he looks dispirited all of a sudden and nervous about getting over GC now.

I don't want to get ahead of myself and find myself like him but can enjoy the victories still. I'm feeling like we are going into a 50/50 game, if I'd done a predictor preseason I would have had Adelaide jumping us by 40 points so it's nice to even feel nervously optimistic.
You do love quoting your mates on here. Quite odd.

We cant gauge any real improvement until we beat the bogey teams for us like the Crows, PA, Gerlong, and Sydney
Sorry, maybe I misunderstood the comment above. Was Saintbloke saying we can't gauge the amount of improvement? I thought it said something along the lines of "we can't know if there has been any improvement". That's what I was responding to. My apologies.
No one said we haven't improved , your making stuff up now , take a chill pill mate ;)
Thank god someone can read on here , I love this club as much as anyone and want us to win , All i said was lets not get cocky as they have owned us for years and then i get all these posters going off tap as if i have bagged our players FMD

Why are you bringing last year into it though? Surely you'll concede that firms of teams these days are far less stable or consistent. Essendon were playing very poorly when we got them, ditto Hawks and Melbourne. Last year's form has little to do with the early rounds of this year's I'd suggest, it starts to become far more telling 8-10 rounds into the season I think. No facts to back up my theory.

Day off because it's a public holiday, not because George banned him!

Enjoy your day off Gringo!
LOL. Re-reading my post I probably should've specified.

Whatever happens we have to get as many wins as possible this is why we have to take advantage of the Crows poor form , it's going to be a tough game but as long as we bring our pressure like we have the past games we are a good chance of beating the Crows.
We get 5 games on the board and we are on our way to get our 12 wins - but more the better.

Essendon had a poor first week and then first quarter against us, but they got their shit together after a mini brawl after one of our goals 12 mins into the 2nd quarter, and from that point on they were highly competitive for the remainder of that quarter, and getting better by the minute, and then they played some scintillating footy in the 3rd quarter, and we struggled to lay a glove on them.

Then we just ground it out better than them in the last.

Hawthorn had won two of their first 3 before we beat them and then the next week they pushed Geelong, while Melbourne had won (interstate) the week before they played us, and then last night it took Richmond till the end of the game to get out to a 40 point lead against them, whereas we did it in under 3 quarters and the contest was over by 20 mins into the 3rd.

As for Freo, they had won their other home game against an interstate team by 80 points, and have since pushed West Coast, and then comfortably beaten GWS (away), so I reckon our form stacks up pretty well, and is getting better as we get more confidence and belief.

It was only our poor conversion that cost us the win against Freo (in the 2nd half they kicked 5.3 to our 4.9, to win by 5 points) and likewise against Hawthorn it was only our poor conversion late that cost us a much more comfortable win (from the 16 min mark of the 3rd they kicked 2 behinds to our 4.7).

Reflecting on our team and the way we are playing credit must go to the players of course , i knew we had the talent , but someone has caused the turn around. I don't want to say Richardson has caused it but I don't really think it's been him.
I really think Ratten and Lade have made all the difference and whoever has been involved in getting the guys so fit.
The way we are playing we can beat anyone.
The more wins we get the more confidence this kids will get and the better the team will get.
Exciting times but this game is so important.

Actually was the ump ##%$5ing up and Freo scoring a goal from said screw up that lost us that match, making us winners by 1 point.

So our form stacks up extremely well in comparison, since it's only inept administration which has stoppe us from being the only undefeated team in the comp.

Hunter not even in the squad!
The emergencies suggest Bruce is 50/50 but if he doesn’t get up then we have a bit of flexibility for the change. Longer in, Marshall forward or Marsh or Joyce in with Battle forward. I think Hind gets the emergency due to consistency for Sandy.
