All this business about us being the comeback kings this week... It's been on social media, it's been here, it's crept into the mainstream media, heck I've been guilty of it...

It has written all over it Irving Fisher's "Stock prices have reached what looks like a permanently high plateau" proclamation in 1929. That came mere days before the crash which led to the Great Depression, wiping 90% off the value of the stock market, making 2008's Global Financial Crisis and everything that went with COVID look like child's play.

They say pride comes before a fall... 😬

that’s why we will lead from start to finish

Don't know what a carpe diem is, but I'm picturing big gold fish blowing up and gasping for breath.
I'll look it up.
Seize the Day! Sadly for Collingwood, they won’t be able to lay a finger on him. Day to kick a BAG tonight!

I too, am lacking confidence.
The pies will be up for this game big time and they will throw everything at us.
They are in good form and they travel well with their army of fans.
We have been hot and cold all year. If we play at our best for four quarters, I think we’ll win.
But will we play at our best for four quarters?

I like this game already.

It's one of those encounters where the duties of the day are akin to obsolete irritations and serve purely as fillers for the minutes and hours.

The moment of.....anticipation :D

I have the utmost respect for our opponents tonight.

Doesn't mean I don't want to clobber them :D

I am feeling the opposite. Felt like we'd lose to the Dogs, but feel confident we will put the foot down tonight.

Me too. Especially with the magpies outs we have a far more talented team. They only really have the 1 match winner while we have several.

It'll take us playing at 60% and them at 90% for us to lose

Who has been the Pies goal scorers in the 5 games to date.
Bolded not named but Membrey listed as emergency.
De Goey has only played 2 games.

8: Elliott, Mihocek, Hill,
7: Membrey
5: McStay, Schultz
3: Maynard, McCreery,
2: De Goey, Sullivan
1: Lapinski, N Dacos, Houston, Perryman, Long, Hoskin-Elliott, Crisp.

There will be many games ahead for these 2 sets of brothers.
Their first full clash is tonight.

Josh is several leagues below Will, Levi and Nick. I'm also curious to see out of Will and Levi, who will have a more illustrious career. Or maybe it will be another scott brothers situation, where they were seen as almost on the same level

He did win their BnF in 2023 (because Nick got injured). Its too early to see how good Levi will be as well.

Don't want to shoot bambi but think at this stage I'd take the Daicos brothers.

I think Answerth will be a good match up for Hill.

One thing I’ve noticed is that he spoils with his left hand. Given he is a right footer, I think it throws a few forwards out when they anticipate the punch to come from the right side of his body. I digress.

Going to be a big game. A solid win will have us firmly as premiership favourites at this early stage (with a few to come back in Coleman, Starc, Doedee and Lohmann), whilst a loss like the one to the Pies at the Gabba will have Pies (and Vic media) up and about around how they will defy history to win with an old list.

Going to be a huge game. Lions by 15.

That’s fair - the comparison is on exposed form vs potential. Daicos boys are 22 & 26. Levi & Will are 18 & 20.

Josh Daicos was a steal at pick 57. The other 3 are all arguably #1 picks (if not for f/s shenanigans).

I think you could revisit the discussion in 2 years time and have a better basis for comparison. Regardless both clubs will be enormously happy!

All you mob bagging Sam Day - did you not see Fagan's press conference? He said "you look at statistics, I look at what he does for the team".

Is there a case for him being what we need, because he allows the rest to shine? He is not the primary target Joe was, so the other elite forwards we have get targeted. He does not take the on the lead marks and kick goals, but he does not allow the intercept mark - and brings the crumbers in to it.

Be careful what you wish for.

According to Jon Ralph, De Goey could be sub or subbed early based on Pies discussions this week

Let's hope some c'wood fkwits don't try & bring guns into this game. We'll have our guns on the field ofc.

GO LIONS!
