There wasn't one, it was more of an accumulation of many factors, including:

• The feeling of needing to follow a local team
• The irritating realisation that many of the people at Bears games around me were supporting another team for one game and the Bears every other match, and hang on I'm one of those people, bloody hell
• The Bears realised they wanted to represent my city rather than just using the name, and started playing at the Gabba
• With the Nicky Winmar thing I had a bit of an "are we the baddies" moment

It has all the feel of Collingwood trying to exploit our slow starts by getting out to a healthy lead via their helter-skelter game plan. THEN bringing out their dark side which nobody (else) really talks about, where they go long and slow and boring.

They'll want to keep everything on one side of the ground, try to outmark us overhead, if they can't, get repeat stoppages and lock the ball in their front half with forward pressure. Then they'll want to make sure that if we do get it, we (a) can't change direction with the ball and therefore (b) are forced to stay skinny side, where any hack or slow kicks forward will be straight to their outnumber, where presumably they expect to have us covered height-wise as well.

It makes the start and first half even more important. If we are able to build a lead and therefore force them to roll with their "fast" game style for longer, with that extra tall they may find that more difficult to maintain.
