Mead is vanilla and doesn't seem to have any discernible weaponry that could catapult into being a great midfielder and it is that expectation that we all have for him. You add the Father, Son name of Mead, the pick 25 in the draft albeit with a hodge podge of later picks and you just want him to break out.
He's not fast, he's not a contested beast, he's not sublimely skilled, he's not a gut runner, he's not hard and a great tackler, he's not a mass accumulator, he's not huge, he's not athletic, he's not an unbelievable kick.
What I will say that with a smidge of space he usually picks the right options and his possessions usually go to advantage either by hand or foot. He can weight a kick into the F50 with precision. Champion Data would love him.
Like many on here, I don't know where he will find an extra gear to really excel in the midfield.
He seems to be what he is right now. If you are happy with that, he can play in the team.
I truly hope he finds a gear I've yet to see. He could be a late bloomer type and when it comes down to it, most people, myself included, are big fans of his Dad.
