FML. Looking at 2 zeroes this week - 1 if I use a trade.

I think most people will be looking at at least 1 doughnut this week.

Gary Ablett is set to miss the game against the Tigers with hamstring tightness (ie. 'rested')

Don't usually like threads for individual players, but I think this is an exceptional case, especially with the other injury carnage.
Bring him in this week, just my luck and they rest him. arghh:mad:

Thankyou Jetta, Trengrove and Morabito, I knew I did the right thing taking so many rookies who will play most matches.

Bench = Ablett and Martin, just hope no one else pulls out now.:o

Would anyone with plenty of trades left consider trading Ablett out for one week then bringing him back, would get a boost to your overall position if you did.

It would improve your overall position for a week or so, but I doubt it would lead to a better end-of-season position.

It would be better to use those two trades by upgrading a rookie to a keeper.

As annoyed as I am now I'd rather have him out for a week than have him out for 4 weeks Now I have to choose between Chapman, Goddard, Hodge or Bartel

You can't risk possible hamstring injuries If its tight there is a huge risk it will tear if he was to play but at least if he rests then it will give it time to settle.

Pissed but at least will make things interesting.

For one week, are you serious? More than 50% of teams have him so not too big a deal but will make captain choices more interesting this week - Judd and Goddard would be my picks.

I'm top 200, 300 points behind the leaders, I bit the bullet and did it. It will cost me trade but will end up making me money and hopefully catching up in points.

I DON'T have Ablett, but was intending to bring him in...but the question is was this an injury or was it an 'INJURY' (ie rested)?

He probably does have hamstring tightness, but having said that, he could still play tomorrow if he really thought necessary. I think they want to be safe with him.

I see this as the inverse of Martin's 'soreness'. Rest the gun for the guaranteed win/loss.

Interesting...

I'm thinking of going no Ablett for the year...and go for alternative Superstars....

Funny how I'm willing/intending to pay for Judd, Montagne, Sewell, Swan etc etc but not Ablett...ROFL

Let's just hope this doesn't turn into a typical Geelong resting = 1, no wait 2..no make that 3 weeks.

Pretty sure last year's winner did that. It really is only an option if your starting team was spot on from day 1 and you've used maybe 1 or 2 trades so far. I know if i was close enough i would've definitely considered it. Especially if it's to cover a zero....definitely a good way to gain some ground on the leaders this week.

High risk High return

Ablett was out for Round 7 and 8 and Round 15, I think last year winner (Chris) traded for the Round 15 one (not confirmed), but yes I agree if it is to cover a zero, and you can use to the cash to upgrade another position (who will jump then it could be good).

For example,

Ablett to Judd (and cover zero)
Peterson to Duddy...(where you actually need the funds to get Duddy)

I think the above example could justify the trade, however it would have been better if Ablett came off a score of say 91 (as per Round 6 last year)...

Yeah exactly...and i guess the other thing is that if you've traded him out, you're hoping it might be for more than one week..which let's face it, with Geelong it's possible. Just looking Gazza missed 3 last year, 4 the year before, anyone remember if the number of weeks was confirmed at the time or was it a week by week thing?

The guy l'm playing in Div 7 has done exactly that >

Traded Ablett to Judd. Not sure what his thoughts are? Still cops a donut with Boyd in his mids, so cancels my Ablett 0 out. But surely if its just a week, better to just take it than try and get him back in again later on?

Oh did he lol. Poor hawkmad bought GAJ in this week :o

If you're still copping a zero, i think you might as well take the 2nd one. I dont know if that's illogical with what's been said above but it's very much circumstantial imo. Trades used, overall rank, etc.

This is conspiracy theory with no evidence, but could it be possible, that Ablett is rested for 2 reasons (with the second reason to ensure there is no riff between Thompson and Ablett??).

I agree if it's just to cover a donut then definitely No. Especially where he's come off a score of 171, ie no price drop...But Brown is more justified as he scored 80+ 30+, so Brown Out then In is more justified than Ablett

Naturally, if it is for more than one reason then it is probably justified for Ablett OUT then IN...

I don't know anyone would bother trading him out getting another player for him and then trading him back just for a one week rest stupid move especially for only a week what a waste of 2 trades:thumbsd:
