'Really average': Swans' fortress breached, fear factor gone
ANDREW WU APRIL 23, 2019
Rampe has declared "our season is on the line" .
...
"Fixing it is another thing. You don't want to jump at shadows so to speak. Teams come up to Sydney in the past they have come up knowing they're up for a really fierce battle on our home deck. I don't think they can say that anymore.
"We have to match their intensity and the way they come up ready to play. This weekend's more about us as a team, our season on the line as opposed to any home record. We have to win regardless of where it is and get some momentum going from there."

I’m a big rap for mccartin but he was selfish on the weekend. Had a number of shepherding opportunities to put a team mate in space but instead went the ball and a turnover ensued on most occasions.

Learning the game still and a foreign position

I agree with this, the problem for me is who do we bring in for him? COR comes into defence for a few weeks, doesn't appear to do too much wrong without setting the world on fire, but then gets dropped. Says to me that he is not following instructions.

Where did McCartin play in the TAC or whatever it was he played in? Is there any evidence that he could kick a ball at any point? Cause it's certainly not his strong suit now.
.

C'mon Kirky. He's 19. He butchers the ball less than KJ, who is a bit older. Give the kid a break

I don't buy the learning the game line. Shepherding is something you learn as a junior. Its not like these blokes have never played footy prior to debuting in the AFL.

Regardless of position he should still do the fundamentals well.

He played as a key forward.
He kicked 9 goals 18 behinds, averaged nearly 12 disposals (@62.58% with a “kicking effectiveness” of 53.76%), 5.6 Marks (1.61 contested), 2.3 tackles.
He kicked 3.5 in one game early in the season.

He went goalless in 8 of his 13 TAC games.

He actually bucked the trend at AFL level last year and kicked 8.6. In the NEAFL he kicked 4.9 or something like that (can’t find the NEAFL stats but I remember something like that).

He will make it as an AFL footballer I have no doubt. I personally don’t have issue with that being as a defender.

What???

I said kicking isn't his strong suit at the moment... I didn't say he was bad, couldn't play, 'butchered the ball' or anything else derogatory. I simply wondered where he played prior to joining the Swans. Whether he's going through a bad patch or this is usual for him.

Personally, I think he's great, and will most likely get better with age for a few years yet. I like his style.

Yep, I agree. I like his attitude and his style of play, and I think he shows a lot of good judgement. Just not the world's greatest kick!

I really liked him down back, I thought he played really well.

You guys are being pretty negative. You’re at home against a team who just lost. Game they should’ve won.
I doubt Davis will play. I actually think Keeffe might come in to replace him instead of Corr (corr needs a few more kms).
Anyway, all the best.
